while most of this remains relatively logical, it doesn't change the fact that stefan molyneux is a dumbass, pseudo-philosoph who has an almost sectlike behaviour in his videos and arguments. also, if human ownership/slavery is bad, he should stop supporting his precious private property rights and "free market capitalism".
Yes, cultural slavery can lead to manipulation and cultural stagnation. But it also has its benefits, for example before our rationality is fully developed we need to be cultural slaves in order to know how to properly function. Ideally as we reach the age of reason we should question our culture and seek cultural freedom, but this does not mean abandoning it completely. It seems to me that people like the one who made the video are so shocked to learn that there is flaws and manipulations within our culture that they become paranoid that everything is a manipulation.
To play devils advocate I would say that in order to function we need a certain level of cultural slavery, some people can not handle true cultural freedom and so in order to prevent chaos brought about through a sort of global existential crisis we must maintain some degree of cultural slavery. We internalize our culture in order to form our identity, a lot of people can not/could not handle constantly questioning their identity all the time.
In the end cultural slavery is a necessity (at least in our early life/pre age of reason), cultural freedom is an ideology. To follow the analogy given in the video: it may not be great to live on the farm, but we should not let our day dreams of the open fields cause us to forget the perils of the wilderness.
yeah its a good analogy but then I have to ask why isn't this dickhead taking himself and his anarchy dream to the fucking artic tundra where he doesnt have to be a social slave
oh wait no internet out there welp
