Brett Douville, the lead programmer on SW Republic Commando, plays through it and tells us things

Lead programmer yet he's never seen the movie, interesting.
fuck me it's been 10 years

Not like it really matters, he wasn't one of the writers.
It's probably a good thing he hasn't seen Attack of the Clones. Hands down one of the worst movies I've ever seen. If it wasn't for Ewan McGregor, it'd be the worst.
God I love this game so fucking much. A sequel to this is number two on my wishlist.
Right after 2143
Are there more examples of developers doing walkthroughs like this?
This kind of thing is great, Matt of TBFP did a playthrough of No More Heroes which he was the lead tester of and it was great to hear his behind-the-scenes knowledge of its creation.

ratchet & clank, conker's, double fine games
I will never not feel betrayed for them continuing the series as books.
I wanted to play this game EVERY time I walked into blockbuster but never did because I was too young and it looked pretty hardcore for a 10 year old.
nowadays kids play gta. thanks obama

Some of the System Shock devs did a playthrough of it a while back, lemme see if I can find it

Ther is a dev commentary of Conkers bad fur day somewhere I think. Or maybe it was Banjo and Kazooie. It was a N64 Rare game I know that :v:
There are also commentaries of Halo 1, Halo 2 and Halo Reach. Don't think they did one for Halo 3
Too bad Imperial Commando was scrapped.
maybe if battlefront 3 is successful disney might consider allowing more shooter games?
I will never not feel betrayed for them continuing the series as books.
Why? Because you can't be bothered to read?
The books were great and really fleshed out the squad as people, it explored the problems they had for being clones. They wanted to live as normal people but had no social experience and also had a vastly shortened lifespan. It had a lot you couldn't really make into a game.

No, I think it is because they wanted another game.
I think you're reading too far into that post.
Don't see how them being books is "betrayed" lol, the books were pretty good
As long as they were not written by Karen Traviss sure.
He doesn't show it in the video, but after the Geonossian fighter is destroyed in the first mission, General Grievous ship flies off.
For those who don't know, Boss' team shows up for a minute in Clone Wars in I think season 2 or 3.
There is also a season 4 episode where you get to see through the helmet of a Commando for a few seconds and it looks just like the game.
Dave Filoni was a big fan of the game, he got that all in the show.

I love Filoni for keeping the Commando's canon even after the big de-canonizing of the EU by Disney.
I am so excited for his insight into the later levels.
For those who don't want to watch a 90 minute video, he said essentially the same stuff here last September.

Karen Traviss is awful and you should feel awful for liking her.

The thing is, the shortened lifespan and their existence as a slave army is something that could have been written about any clones. If they were called Star Wars: Null ARC then it would have been fine by me.
The books just didn't deliver what one might expect: including more of Delta Squad, showing what happens to Sev, showing what happens after the game, explaining Delta's role the Empire. It takes four books to get to all that, and they don't really cover it all that much. We got books that weren't appealing to the game's whole audience, when we could have had a game sequel that was.
Aside from all that, I think the Gurlanins are terrible and they're a terrible idea and I'm glad that the new canon is completely rid of them.

Cool your jets there Saddam, just because i want a proper game sequel doesn't mean i didn't read the books. They were mediocre at best and a real sequel would do the series justice. Besides, just imagine how awesome RC is and then imagine it in a more modern engine like Frostbite, Cryengine or Unreal.
Can someone give me the run-down of what happens to the squad in the books? I never got around to reading them, but loved playing the game. Always wanted to know what happen.

He's the lead programmer not the lead designer.
this is a really interesting watch
still have my copy for xbox here
I remember this was the first game I got from Gamefly, and then I cancelled my service because it took them a month to get my next game to me.
He didn't save any of the clone troopers.
What a scrub! What a sadist!
