• Surveying Radio Opinions (And if Facepunch Radio is a good idea)
    19 replies, posted
So we have had a few Facepunch Radios over the whenever. All of them being unsuccessful and dying out due to loss of interest or money to keep up the Shoutcast. If one were to come back, would it be a good idea? If you guys can answer a quick survey it would give me some data to work with. Seeing as all survey sites suck ass without paying, only 100 people can answer. Survey be here.
learn from history
Well if people would be interested in it, it could become somewhat successful. [editline]21st July 2012[/editline] I am getting literally no responses from the people who are viewing the thread :I

Wow you give me over 20 music choices and I can only choose one. Lame.
i'd only listen to the radio if there was someone i trusted and had excellent crate-digging skills. no-one wants to listen to the radio just to hear something they either have in their library or something anyone can hear on spotify.
The only thing I'm wondering is what would distinguish it from Pandora? The answer is facepunch-specific talk segments in between music. But I don't know if people really want that.
The answer is facepunch-specific talk segments in between music.
no nono no a music fan's worst nightmare would be a nerd harping along about shit no-one cares about in-between songs.
The answer is facepunch-specific talk segments in between music. But I don't know if people really want that.
that would be very embarrassing [editline]1[/editline] only way I can really see this working is if there are certain time blocks for different genres. going with just one or a couple different genres would be boring. DJs also need to be crate diggers like thisispain said, nobody wants to listen to music they can find in a /mu/ top 50 list or whatever
Was it Hexxeh or someone else that ran that really popular facepunch radio show?
Pretty sure Hexxeh's was the really popular one. I've enjoyed listening to some of the FP radios, but their main problem is a lack of consistency on the job of the hosters, most of them died or were intermittent after the first week. [editline]21st July 2012[/editline] Also the host is what builds the show, I remember some of the most awkward interviews and moments on FP radio that really just killed everything for me
Why not have talk radio? Music is great and all, but what about facepunchers actually discussing stuff. Politics, religion, video games, music, television, movies, whatever. As long as the people have a good voice and a good personality it would probably be pretty fun to listen to.
i'll be the host tonight's topic: bjork.
a while back i hosted FaceCast radio, it worked p. damn well, i was commited and had a good few listeners constantly, i didn't do talk segments, i just occasionally mic'd in and gave a timecheck or whatever. it died when my hunk of shit PC started shutting down at random whenever i ran the mixer program.
This sounds interesting though. I ran a couple of music and news programs for my local radiostation, it was pretty fun. You should definitively try this out!
If it ever returns I could be a host. But if it has failed multiple times in the past I would leave it at that.
Talk radio Or even a call in talk radio!
I'd listen if it featured a News segment, but seeing as I'm in the US and I'm assuming that this will be UK based, I couldn't listen.
I'd love this, especially since I miss Shoutpunch so much.
