Hey, i'm looking for some good action movie locations in Minnesota, preferably northwest of Minneapolis, near Elk River if anyone knows where that is. I've been shooting movies near my house and the Neighborhood forest, but that's not cutting it for me. Any ideas? Preferably somewhere that doesn't require permits or having to tell the whole fucking city I'm just making a movie.
that is a very specific location ya got there. I'm not sure you'll find all too many facepunchers who even live in the areas, let alone know their cinematic values.
I'd say it's up to you to use your cinematographer's eye to find some good spots whilst just driving around. Forest preserves are always fun, as are smaller businesses (like family owned grocery stores or whatever) where you can talk to the owner and get permission without needing to do tons of paperwork and such.
Thanks for the advice. I live in a small city, so theres not many good locations around here. I was hoping for abandoned warehouses and such. But I can keep looking on my own. Thanks again.
Talk to city council and perhaps the cities development manager, ask if they know anyone who owns abandoned/unused properties, get to know them and perhaps they'll let you shoot in some of their buildings or their properties.
