For those of you who don't know what a Villanelle is, it's a type of poetry in which the refrains Repeat and Alternate and are reused as an ending. The refrains don't have to remain exactly the same, just distinguishably similar. I wrote this as an assignment for my AP English class. Hope you guys enjoy my heart breaks.
I can never really be happy, can’t you see?
The gods haven’t decided, it’s just the sad fact that you
Of course, will never, ever, fall for me,
Your looks, a book I can write, lasting an eternity,
The smile you wear; I am subdued,
Filled with joy I am, it’s evident, you see.
How lovely the talks, you laugh so gaily
At my humble jokes; I hope for more to accrue;
So warm and loving your aura, I fall on knees;
But soon, I disguise myself so carefully,
The emotions bundled, waiting to undo
Faking neutrality, behind my mask, I cannot see;
Maybe, I wonder, if I reveal to thee;
My feelings will calm, stop throwing revues
And win your heart, you’d fall for me.
Like a sick dog, I was put down, lovingly,
Humiliated in defeat, my happiness flew,
I’ll never be happy, that much I can see
For you, of course, did not fall for me.
