Hey guys I started my diet on 12/20/13 I'm using an app for android called "Lose It!" So far I'm doing good (when I started I was 218 lbs and I'm 5' 7") I am definitely in need of losing weight and just did it to feel better about myself. So far the app has told me to keep it under 1800 calories, but I usually finish the day around 1300. I had to redo my grocery shopping list and so far changing what's in my fridge to healthy tasty food has worked well (tossed out all the bad stuff). Quick question... So far today I'm at 674 calories and I'm going out to eat with my girlfriend what should I eat out to eat tonight that won't ruin my diet? Also what would you guys say should be my ideal weight? Id like to have a flat stomach and I haven't added exercise yet because my asthma trends to make things difficult but that should get better as I diet and lower weight. I'm new to this so sorry for the noob questions.
Eating a random meal at a restaurant for one day isn't going to ruin your diet; you would have to actively eat a caloric surplus that exceeds your prior fat loss, which is really hard. e.g. undoing 1 lb of fat loss would require you to eat a surplus of 3500 calories, whether that be in one day or seven.
Many restaurants have the nutrition information for all their food on their website.
I would suggest you not eat 1300 calories a day, your goal is to lose fat while preserving as much muscle mass and strength as possible; eating that little can seriously deplete your body of the food energy and nutrients it needs. A deficit of 500-750 calories is more than enough to produce sustainable, controlled fat loss.
Even if your goal isn't to get big, you should still do some form of strength training. Doing a beginner program lifting free weights 3x a week will do far more for your physical health and strength development than any other exercises.
I think you are doing good and I also eating less calories and consuming more calories. I am doing work out in day time that help me to lose my weight and I don't think that I need to do any thing more.
