We've all seen the threads in the Garry's mod support section with titles like "omg help plz!!11" and such. These kinds of threads get trolled pretty hard. Want to end up like them? Didn't think so.
1. Use correct spelling and grammar as much as you can. This shows you aren't an idiot.
2. Don't say overused acronyms such as "lol".
3. Don't use emotes like this- :) :V :P. Facepunch has its own emote system. :mmmsmug: [url=http://www.facepunch.com/misc.php] Click here for a list of emotes.[/url]
4. Once you are logged in, you stay logged in. There is no way of logging out.
5. If you want to post an image, do so like this: [noparse][img]http:// your image url[/img][/noparse]
6. The administrators and moderators are fairly strict. Bad language is allowed, but [highlight]if you are posting a disgusting or shock image, add a NSFW warning and put the image in media tags, like this: [noparse][media]http:// your image url[/media][/noparse][/highlight]
7. If you do happen to get banned, you will see a forum called the Refugee Camp. Moderators and Gold Members can view these forums. If you think you were unfairly banned, make a thread there and wait for a response. Don't be angry, smart-arsey or flame the mods or your ban will be extended.
8. Treat other users with respect unless they can't spell.
9. If you see the "OIFY" mentioned anywhere, ignore it. It's a standing joke.
10. If you do happen to be able to find a way to log out, you can't create another account if your first one was banned. You have to wait until the ban expires.
These rules are just guidelines, but if you ignore them it's your funeral.

for firefox it's tools > options > privacy > show cookies > find facepunch.com in the list, press delete on your keyboard, refresh the page

It is really. The rules are obvious. No memes, they're obnoxious; no discussion of warez, of course; all NSFW images should be media'd and have a warning. Really, it's not hard to figure out. There are rules posted in many subforums as well if people are unsure. New members should be able to figure out what and what not to do by reading ban messages to learn from others. Plus, it's not like it's the end of the world if you get banned. It's a measure to keep the forum orderly. Doesn't mean that you're in deep shit if you do get banned. Plus, everyone gets banned at one point or another. If people can't figure this out and comply with simple rules like this, maybe FP isn't the forum for them.

The effort is admirable, but the fact is that not everyone is going to read this before they register. Plus, FP being a well-known forum, we're constantly getting trolls; trolls will ignore all efforts to keep the place clean.
