Like someone else said, can't remember who, but heaving health regenerate in games where weapons are hit scan and aren't as avoidable makes it harder, because hit scan weapons are shit.
Pretty good analysis. I haven't played the COD franchise since the first modern warfare, but I'm glad to see another game pull a similar mechanic to the role Elizabeth filled in Bioshock Infinite as a support role to the player (dishing out health/ammo)
I honestly like games, especially shooters with limb based damage systems/health systems. SWAT 4, Red Orchestra 2 and recently Escape From Tarkov are all games that pull off that system quite well. I am surprised that he didn't mention any games that did that instead of the two health systems he mentioned.
I like the background music 2kliksphilip uses for his videos.

Same. But him "shaking his head" in-game whenever he made a mistake was driving me nuts.

The fart soundtrack @2m45s was strange though.

tbh he only assessed health systems in adrenaline-based-action-shooters that doesn't want the players to spend any more time dealing with unique health conditions and more towards them focusing on the action. Many games in and out of the FPS genre use many different combinations of health and life systems.

Not sure I understand the link between those two considering bullshit hitscan enemies have existed long before regenerating health was a thing in video games.
There's something to be said for the old white knuckle insanity that is trying to survive on one health on a tough section, using your groundhog day powers to kill a room full of enemies and come out of it unscathed. I wouldn't say it's GOOD design, but some masochistic part of me is sorry to see it go.

Still feasible. A good game would have hidden mechanics kicking into overdrive to provide the players with absurd advantage while giving them the feeling of overcoming overwhelming odds. Extra Credits got this covered.

Well if Brutal Doom counts as a modern game, I have had loads of fun quicksaving in the worst situations I got in and trying to get myself out of that situation with only like 5 or 8 health, you really need good reflexes for that, especially if you play with the maps of chaos map pack and you have difficulty on max.

It's always a challenge to clear a room full of Elites on Legendary in Halo CE when your health is almost none.
Halo CE had this awesome shield and buffer of health that allowed for some unsafe, dangerous, fun strategies to be pulled off like charging into enemy territory. Then when health was low you have to play it smart
Regenerating health on the other hand, always feels a bit cheap to me. Not only it's not realistic, that's the lesser issue, but it cheapens the experience. You always play it safe, because it's the only thing that keeps you out of danger. If you're hurt, hide and retry. Doesn't reward smart playstyle
