[quote=source]ARATOGA COUNTY, N.Y. — A New York sheriff’s deputy was suspended late this week after a viral video surfaced that appeared to show him slapping and threatening a man who declined to let him search his car without a warrant.[/quote]

Suspended not fired?
[QUOTE=Jitterz;46449444]Suspended not fired?[/QUOTE]
The investigation as to be done before a decision is made, I'm assuming part of it is the slap wasn't on camera so they are trying to debate if the slap actually happened though the officer pretty much admits it right after verbally.
[QUOTE=Jitterz;46449444]Suspended not fired?[/QUOTE]
suspended without pay pending an investigation IE he's probably on his way out
"...I'll rip your fuckin' head off and shit down your neck..."
hahahaha is this guy for real?

Asked if he would have handled the matter the same way again, [b]Glans said he would, but not if he knew it was being filmed.[/b] He acknowledged that he did not know the incident was being videotaped.

Sorry it's easy to just see this and want the guy out now.
[QUOTE=Jitterz;46449495]Sorry it's easy to just see this and want the guy out now.[/QUOTE]
On one side i want him out now, But this system is in place to just document the entire thing. You can't just fire someone without some form of documented investigation or proof of what was done. The video is the proof now they just need to document him for removal.
He isn't a new officer, He is going to lose his retirement/pension most likely for this type of mis-conduct firing.

Once a glans always a glans.
cubeman do you have some sort of grudge against law enforcement?
is it because they questioned you when you caused the death of a person?
I'm curious with all these "bad cops" cases going about.
Is there a reason cops act like this?
Just the thought of being an authority?
Stress of being filmed as "the bad cop"?
Just a few bad eggs we don't know about until we record it?

there's around half a million cops in the US, there's always going to be cases where a cop does something "bad", and still, half or more of those cases turn out to be sensationalized garbage or a one sided video or a sort of selective journalism, because it's always big press when stuff like this happens.

I would agree with that.
I imagine there are gonna be a few douches who becomes a cop for the sake of having Authority. But most of the time it's either cop haters being cop haters and making videos to solidify their standing point, or something blown up by media because it's boring to have good news on.

I rated this dumb at first because I thought it was just some offtopic jab about cubeman since he commented in the thread and it was about a cop doing something dumb, but then I realized that he actually started this thread.
i knew this would be a fuckin cubeman thread
Jesus Christ all Cubeman did was post the news thread, he even supported the guy's right to an investigation before being fired. Why are some of you guys even bitching about it exactly?
I mean wow, get over it already. So what if he has a bias against law enforcement. You people are the reason this thread is turning to shit within the first 20 posts, you're probably the reason some of his other threads go up in flames too.
This guy is fucked.
Have this video of another officer being recorded as some ear-bleach:

I KNOW HOW TO OPERATE A STREET, THANK YOU
I read on liveleak that this officer actually paralyzed a man in a car accident. " In 1996, Shawn Glans - the cop in this very video - was driving 3 times over the speed limit, crashed into oncoming traffic and left a guy blind and paralyzed with permanent brain damage."

Can you link the live leak? Or are you just saying to be rebellious against cops?

[quote]Friday’s incident is not Glans’ first brush with controversy. On March 28, 1996, while patrolling on Smith Bridge Road in the town of Wilton at about 10 p.m., Glans lost control of his cruiser and crashed head-on into a vehicle driven by 45-year-old Douglas McEachron, leaving the father of six paralyzed. Glans was traveling at least double or possibly three times the speed limit of 20 mph when he crossed into the westbound lane and hit McEachron’s 1989 Chevrolet, according to court records.[/quote]
This is fun being from Saratoga Springs NY.
asshole cop stories don't necessarily interest me when there's already clear evidence and reason to believe that the cop in question is already going to be thrown out on their ass
like, asshole cop here's secret footage, the law actually works and fires and sometimes even charges said asshole cop- not much else to these stories
as long as law enforcement is a thing, and it should be, of course you're going to get people that abuse that power that's never going to change. It's cool that in this modern age of very small recording devices attached to every phone and even glasses now, you can document when you're being abused.
So...he is trying to physically intimidate and bully a citizen into voluntarily relinquishing his rights and consenting to a search [I]he doesn't have to consent to.[/I] This is fucking disgusting and the officer deserves to be fired even if he didn't strike that person. But, since he did, he deserves to be fired AND charged with assault.
Don't ever let a cop intimidate you into consenting to something you don't have to agree to. If they have to resort to bully tactics, it means they don't have have enough evidence to obtain a warrant. Getting a warrant takes 15 minutes if they have a real and compelling reason. Bullying means their only shot at putting you in jail is forcing you to incriminate yourself voluntarily.

His reckless behavior already left somebody disabled for life. You think a slap will get him thrown off the force?
Douchebag cops, this is why certain cops need to be on desk duty and never be given weapons.

But we don't even know if the asshole who recorded the video could have provoked the cop enough to get a reaction to record, then write a bullshit story or not. We can't just watch a vid and go "OHHHH FUCK YEAH, I HATE COPS NOW, LET'S JUST FIRE 'EM ALL, FUCK DUE PROCESS AND THE VERY JUSTICE SYSTEM WE HAVE THAT MAKES US A CIVILIZED FIRST WORLD COUNTRY!".

Sastin's quote was , " In 1996, Shawn Glans - the cop in this very video - was driving 3 times over the speed limit, crashed into oncoming traffic and left a guy blind and paralyzed with permanent brain damage."
The actual quote was
"Friday’s incident is not Glans’ first brush with controversy. On March 28, 1996, while patrolling on Smith Bridge Road in the town of Wilton at about 10 p.m., Glans [b]lost control of his cruiser /b][and crashed head-on into a vehicle driven by 45-year-old Douglas McEachron, leaving the father of six paralyzed. Quite a difference of quotes there, unless Sastin only edited that quote to make the guy look like some speedster monster out to cripple someone and then jack off to the guy's screams of agony.

Yeah ok buddy. "Officer I swear me dealing meth on the street corner is perfectly legal because I choose to non violently ignore the law"
I hope he never sees that RV again.
Fuck, I make a mistake in [b] tags and I can't edit my post for some reason.

Can you bend over just a little bit further backwards to defend him? Provoked? What a fucking joke. In no universe is physically assaulting and bullying someone into consenting to a search proper police conduct.
Cop wants to do a search. They have two options: A. Get a warrant, or B: Don't do the search. Period. There is no option C: Abuse the person until they consent. It is indefensible in any context.
