Buying a new car soon. From your experience, what are some good models? Don't need anything fancy, just good reliability, mileage and overall best value for money. Something for <15k, new or second hand. Preferrably Australian responses but any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Advice for buying a new car.... Dont.
Get a low milage second hand one as a car looses most its value the moment it gets 1 owner.
Plus a second hand one means any teething issues the car has had would have already been dealt with by the previous owner
And if you could get an old Mercedes (190 or something) those things are basically bulletproof, quite cheap (at least over here) and parts aren't that hard to find.

But I have no idea how the situation is over there.
I've got a 1992 190E and a 1991 300CE. Both still run and are tanks. The 190E has 210,000 miles and hasn't fallen apart yet, and the 300 is my baby.
Only downside is fuel cost and the occasional big maintenance.
dont pay sticker price
There are some nice infiniti g35's on ebay for around 15k, not very new though, but as far as I'm concerned 2007 to present are great, try those if you can.

Nissan also is great and relatively cheap, try Sentras or Altimas
