Hi everyone,
A friend of mine and myself were recently looking into getting into photography again. We took a course together in school and loved it, but it's been a while since either of us were behind a camera. The class we took provided us with Canon Rebels (no idea what model numbers they were or anything), which I liked quite a bit, but I just have no idea which one would be best for what we want to do. We want to do a lot of outdoor shots, maybe a few portraits now and then (senior photos, etc). Basically whatever.
Would you guys be willing to link me to some good stuff? I just have no idea what I'm looking for and I don't want to drop a load of cash on something I don't need.
If you don't care about slightly better video framerates, go for a Nikon entry level DSLR with the kit 18-55mm lens.
Try the D3100, D5100 and 1100D, 600D at a camera shop.
I don't like the idea of the 600D. I much prefer the 550D or the 60D.
550D is out of production.
Edit: Oh, places are still selling them new.
Alright, I'll check out some of the Nikon models.
Any other suggestions? I'm heading out to the camera shop tomorrow.
I support the D3100, it's the second cheapest Nikon D-SLR, and it has great reviews all over the web.
Might be a tad too basic if you're considering the ones roll_program suggested, though.

Such a great camera.
I have a Canon Rebel XS, and it is not bad. It is my first serious camera, and I am working for local groups. I know many people will disagree with my choice, but I got it, new, for $300.00, with the lens kit.
Canon Rebel T3I
I would recommend you try the Canon Rebel T2i, the Canon Rebel T3i is essentially the same as the T2i but with an adjustable LCD screen, wireless flash, and a bit heavier for an extra $100.
And as many have recommended, you can also try the Nikon D3100. It is a great entry-level DSLR.
Canon rebel t1i good mp and nice lens with a not too expensive kit, a camera that lets you simple photography but still gives manual mode and ev brackets to do hdr with manual your options are limitless. If money isnt an issue I would get aa nikon d 7000 great quality for its price but either one is great

I was gonna be all like
"hey you said that exact same thing in a different thread man"
then I realised it was the same one from a while back.
I bought a 600D with the kit lens for the same price as a 550D with a kit lens so if you can find a deal like that, go for the 600D
