Its pretty good review for people who havent tryed it yet
I played it. It was boring, overdone, and had shit driving physics.
Looks like GTA IV's multiplayer. A boring spectacle of people shooting at each other, without no reason or purpose, on a single map that's 10 times too big. Feels empty, boring and pointless.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=egQ7OT93HOo fixed for OP.
This reviewers fucking retarded. Half of his arguments against the game are about how elements of it would be game-breaking in an FPS. Well, it's a good thing it's not an FPS, now isn't it? And, "It's a lot like IWnet, for MW2." Are you fucking kidding me? "The servers only hold 80 players at once." 90% sure it's 100. And beyond everything, this is clearly a vid of the Beta. It looks like he filmed it a while ago and only released it today since the Key to the City event was (supposed) to start today, and he could duck the NDA. God damn, he just gets dumber and dumber. "I can't get out of the car, because he has a full clip" You would too if you were smart enough to reload before getting in the car. "I can't do anything here, because getting out of the car is slow and I have the briefcase" It's not slow, and even if it was, how about you just drive around the corner and get out, then drop the briefcase. Better yet, why didn't you just put the briefcase in the trunk of the car in the first place? "And there he just blew my car up with about one clip" Apparently he's vision impaired, because that was about a total of 2 and a half clips. Figures, he bitches about getting backup that's somewhat far away but doesn't say a thing when they show up and help. And with the mowing down civilians thing, there is a downside to it, you lose Prestige. Not very much, but it used to be significantly more before everyone bitched about it. He's right with that "MMO aspect", it's incredibly easy to grief in this game. "I'm just going to park my car on top of his objective item, and he won't be able to pick it up, and he'll lose the mission." 5 seconds later, the player picks it up and he doesn't say a thing :v: The whole aspect he goes on about with the witnessing mechanic, where you can somewhat "force" another player into a match with you, is the chase mission he goes on about a short while later. So first he was bitching about how it's broken that he can so easily force and win a mission against another player, then he bitches about how broken it is when he simply loses the very mission he was just saying was too easy to win. He's also barely trying, he was clearly gaining on the van and had an opportunity to pit it but he didn't take it. His biggest mistake was playing the game alone. Everyone knows playing any MMO alone is boring as hell, and that's especially true with APB.
The game is shit
So much potential, wasted yet again.
This review was horrible. It WAS the beta. The beta is to tell the makers of the game what to fix before it comes out. He even says near the end something about how the better fix the stuff before it's release date in 2 weeks. And he was also playing by himself. It would be more fun if you were playing with a couple of your friends, so you don't need to call for backup. And he kept complaining about you can look around a corner with the camera and see people coming. Yeah, that's what 3rd-person shooters can do with the camera. The reviewer plays too much MW2. And also, I am 100% sure, the servers can hold 100 people, supacasey. They might have lowered it for the beta. EDIT: Although, the physics do look horrible for driving. The need to put on some more suspension.
pay for gameplay lol
"I'm just going to park my car on top of his objective item, and he won't be able to pick it up, and he'll lose the mission." 5 seconds later, the player picks it up and he doesn't say a thing :v: .
when the item got first picked up from under his car i backed on top of it again and stood there for around 5 minutes it was just cut out
What's APB stand for? Looms like Saint's Row so much.

the game sucks
now i feel like a badass for refunding it
the review was spot on. i would rather eat my own shit than play apb for an hour
I believe that this was intended to be a humourous review. Unfortunately, it failed in both the humour and the review aspects. It lacked any energy or dynamism. Monotone is not a good way to speak to create interest. It was clearly shooting for cynicism and the humour that lies there, but unfortunately it fails here. A series of complaints/bugs is not a review. Massively long pauses are not good too. Don't know about the game. Doesn't look as bad as the reviewer thinks it is.

I play the game, and i find it fun as hell. Sure it gets boring but that's how i work. I can't play the same thing for like a day straight without getting bored of it and stopping for a few days. It is repetitive but the devs have a fuckton of new features planned for the game. Also all those people bawling about the pay to play thing are fucking idiots. It's one of the most affordable plans available. This game is still a lot of fun for me, matter of fact i'm playing right now.
speaking of vision impaired, it was obviously a single clip. supercasey must have a learning disability
Also of course it's shit right now, as said above he was playing the beta and probably did not upload this to avoid the NDA. There have been many fixes for it since then too. [editline]05:00PM[/editline] Watching more of the video. Obviously there will be some aspect of a game someone can use to their advantage and grief. This guy is just being a full on dick. And obviously, they are going to be fixed, the key word in the game he was playing was BETA. Also there is a penalty for running down pedestrians as an enforcer. You're prestige is lowered, and you don't get severely lowered payments and rarely if at all get rewards when you drop down low enough.
even if all the things mentioned here were fixed, there's still little content for how close it is to release.
It looks kinda shitty, and what's with the vehicle physics, it's not GTA Vice City.
The game is WAY TOO CLOSE to release, considering its current state. I've played many hours, because I wanted to like it so badly. In my opinion, the game has potential to be good in like, a year. But not in less than a month. No way. The character customization is awesome. The gameplay is terrible, repetitive, boring. I actually feel that this review does a fine job of explaining how the game is. There really isn't much more to it than what is in this review... those are the problems, and thats about all the gameplay the game contains.
If he can handle it that guy really needs to turn AA on
I play the game, and i find it fun as hell.
Do you also find lectures on physics exciting? Or a drawn out explanation on the intricacies of the inner workings in modern-day vacuum cleaners?
Do you also find lectures on physics exciting? Or a drawn out explanation on the intricacies of the inner workings in modern-day vacuum cleaners?
qouted for truth
speaking of vision impaired, it was obviously a single clip. supercasey must have a learning disability
Who's supercasey? Whoever he is, tell him his name is dangerously close to mine, but is most definitely different, and therefore could not possibly be me in the first place.
And, "It's a lot like IWnet, for MW2." Are you fucking kidding me? It's just like IWnet, in that it's absolute shit. Yeah, alright, it is pretty shitty. I've played more than my fair share of 1v2's, 2v4's, etc, but IWnet? The fuck? "The servers only hold 80 players at once." 90% sure it's 100. That's 20 people, WOOAAAH When we're talking about 100 player servers 20 is a pretty fair amount. Except he has a better gun, and thus getting out in the open would have got him killed instantly. Instantly? Nope. He could've always waited for her to empty her clip into the car and wait for her to start reloading then ditch the car and gain a couple seconds advantage. Or in his case, long enough to drop the briefcase and get a few shots in first. "I can't do anything here, because getting out of the car is slow and I have the briefcase" It's not slow, and even if it was, how about you just drive around the corner and get out, then drop the briefcase. Better yet, why didn't you just put the briefcase in the trunk of the car in the first place? Yeah put it in the boot of the car so it can get blown up, with him unable to get out with the briefcase. ...Yeah, that's my point. If he gets out without the briefcase then he doesn't have to take the time to drop it, and he can return to teh car and pick it up later. And again, he still could've just driven around the corner instead of circling her like an idiot. "And there he just blew my car up with about one clip" Apparently he's vision impaired, because that was about a total of 2 and a half clips. About 2, maybe less. That's because he's using an upgraded smg, entirely embalancing the fights. Don't see a need to argue this one. Losing prestige in some cases can be a positive for enforcers. Staying below 5 is what you want to do. Yeah, he's right to bitch about backup because he's entirely outgunned, yet the game still takes fucking ages to find him backup. All the time he's losing lives. Not sure why you're talking about backup here, by MMO aspect I meant what he meant; that you can fuck around with random people. "I'm just going to park my car on top of his objective item, and he won't be able to pick it up, and he'll lose the mission." 5 seconds later, the player picks it up and he doesn't say a thing :v: Because the criminal then immediatly dies, the guy drives back over it and he's unable to pick it up, or did you miss that part. He can still pick it up, and I bet the player did and he just cut it. The radius around an object you can pick it up in is larger than (at least most) cars. The whole aspect he goes on about with the witnessing mechanic, where you can somewhat "force" another player into a match with you, is the chase mission he goes on about a short while later. Yeah, he forced the guy against him, then instantly killed him. Absolutely instantly. He instantly killed the guy through basically an underhanded tactic. But other fights he loses because the other people simply have better guns. Note how he also goes for the pit, but his car is actually forced into the air and slowed down because of terrible vehicle handling. The instant kill is indeed bullshit, but that's about the only bullshit part about it. As for the better guns... Not only are upgrades not everything, RTW has already stated gun upgrades are getting a serious nerf in retail anyway. Like, more than halved in most cases. As for him going for the pit... I can't really tell if he's trying to pit him or the van is pushing him... But what I can say is the vehicle physics can be somewhat "different", but they're not all that bad. Definitely seen worse. His biggest mistake was playing the game alone. Everyone knows playing any MMO alone is boring as hell, and that's especially true with APB. Having played it myself with friends, these problems aren't solved. It's in fact worse. The more people you have, the more people that are deployed against you, and thus the worse the matchmaking becomes. Usually not true. In a one on one it's very easy to get mismatched, but with a few friends it's much easier to become tactical and retain an advantage, even if you still get mismatched. In a game that is meant to be a third person shooter while being a persistant world MMO, it fails at being a shooter, while not having the numbers to excel at being truly "massively multiplayer". Can't really comment on that for sure, because both of those arguments rely heavily on what the game turns out to be like in retail. This is all beta shit he's commenting on, for all we know come release it could be an entirely different game.
The retail is not a different game. With the current Beta, they are applying the updates quickly after making them. Just watch the game's development on the forums as written by staff members, you'll see that the current state of the Beta is basically the current state of the game.
Do you also find lectures on physics exciting? Or a drawn out explanation on the intricacies of the inner workings in modern-day vacuum cleaners?
I see you find being an asshole exciting. Also physics are awesome >:(
