• Donald Trump refuses to shake Angela Merkel's hand
Donald Trump has apparently refused to shake Angela Merkel's hand during a joint appearance at the White House. The pair held an awkward meeting that could help determine the future of the transatlantic alliance and shape the working relationship between two of the world's most powerful leaders. While the President greeted the German leader with a handshake upon her arrival at the White House, he appeared to ignore requests to do so as the pair sat together later in front of TV cameras. In footage of the photo opportunity, as photographers call for the two to shake hands, Ms Merkel can be heard saying: "Do you want to have a handshake?" Mr Trump briefly turns towards her, but continues sitting with his legs apart and hands together.
Source
Probably so no one can see that her hands are bigger than his
He may just not have heard/understood her, with all those people shouting, the cameras, etc. Watching the video, I couldn't even tell where the supposed slight occurred until they replayed it. He barely even glances her way as she leans toward him.
But he already shook her hand...

Yeah, the vid makes it real likely that he just didn't hear her
I'm getting a bit tired of the perpetual outrage over slight missteps, if I'm honest. I dislike the guy as much as the rest of us, but I think it's more productive if we focus on the real issues rather than blowing everything out of proportion. That's not normalizing, is it?

Trump makes a fool out of himself in plenty of ways that are actually notable all the time, attacking him over petty stuff like this is a waste of time and energy and just makes us look, in kind, very petty.
Yeah, I gotta give this one to Trump, that room seems loud as all hell and Merkel didn't look like she was putting in a very strong effort to be heard aside from a slight lean forwards. :vs: He probably just didn't hear her, no ill intent.
more fake news..
I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, but he doesn't even turn to look at her once. There's an air of disdain from him.
Well she's a terrible leader anyways.
Third sentence
The camera men obviously wanted a shot of them shaking hands while sitting down. It's not really that odd.
Well she's a terrible leader anyways.
Never before the crux of a thread has been so eloquently summarised by a poster.
I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, but he doesn't even turn to look at her once. There's an air of disdain from him.
Looks to me like he just didn't hear her over the droves of shutter clicks and "Thank You"s. I honestly do not believe that Trump is childish enough to not shake her hand. He didn't even flinch, which to me signals that his attention was simply completely elsewhere. Kind of a low-hanging fruit to be making headlines about such a tiny and unclear event. That title is as sensationalist as it gets.
Yeah, I could barely hear her say it in the video and that's probably with a microphone right at her.

The title implies that he refused to shake her hand. But he already shook her hands at the airport, so why should he suddenly refuse in front TV cameras? It is much more likely that he just didn't hear the request.

he might of realized how obsessed FP is with his hand shaking techniques.
he might of realized how obsessed FP is with his hand shaking techniques.
we're all lusting for that handjob, you know

Unless the left-wing media wants to become the same mindless drone we got from Fox during Obama's terms, it might be a good idea to dial back the outrage journalism a little bit. You really risk saturating the market and tiring people out if you report on everything, instead of only dealing with the major issues. And there are quite a few major issues to report on, we don't need to resort to making stories where there are none.
Trump looks so uncomfortable through out that whole video
I don't like Trump but this article is really reaching for straws and frankly just lends credence to the 'liberal media bias' that Trump supporters like to screech about.

Trump could have my babies by now.

The media reports and counter-reports in order to keep its narrative going. They portray Trump as a despot, but his critics as inept and petty. It's a back and forth designed to keep the coins rolling. This has been happening for decades now, it's only because we have someone genuinely dangerous in power that we're starting to notice how actually horrible it is.
