You should first consider you dont want to much things to be going on. I mean I have a laser mouse and my first mouse pad was very very colorfull and my mouse tripped like hell (I think the laser reflected like crazy or something) I don't know if the lasers are better these days 'cause I have a mousepad now with just one color.
