I think it has to do with it being dangerous play or something. Imagine him hitting someone or hurting himself. I can see why they consider it illegal, but I would certainly allow it if I was reffing.

Actually the ruling on the field was "excessive celebration" lol I just found this out after some investigation.

I could see this being a dangerous play in non-American football, but I'm not sure how the rules work in this game.
