If I was to attempt to create a movie with 3D Models and such, what software would I use to do so. I tried Blender, but is there a better alternative, I don't mind if it is paid but it has to be able to create a fluid movie and create a 3D Animation Thank you in advance, PS: I wasn't sure if this should go in the Hardware Discussion area, so I apologise if it was.

3Ds MAX or Maya If you're UK try www.pugh.co.uk, it does very discount things for students.
So, if it was you, which is more efficient. 3Ds Max or Maya
Blender is a very capable program, and the best you will get for free. If you were going to get a program that is commonly used in the industry, like 3DS max or Maya, you will need to shell out around $4000 just to buy it. In my opinion Maya is better than Max, but try both trials out.
So, if it was you, which is more efficient. 3Ds Max or Maya
Maya is worlds better than 3DS Max
Maya is worlds better than 3DS Max
except it looks like windows 98 edit: but yeah for cgi it probably is better i dunno
I pray that last zero was a typo
No a non student licence is like £2k.
except it looks like windows 98 edit: but yeah for cgi it probably is better i dunno
But it performs and outputs same, if not better. Sure it requires skill on any app, but maya is stable and much better for animations.
I personally like Autodesk 3D's Max (www.autodesk.com - information is on the website) I have been using it for quite some time and received no error's with the product whatsoever.
But it performs and outputs same, if not better. Sure it requires skill on any app, but maya is stable and much better for animations.
Where's that unfounded stability comment coming from?
I pray that last zero was a typo
It's highly sophisticated software which is used by professionals all the time, it's gonna cost you, that's also a corporate price.
No a non student licence is like £2k.
Now taking donations
Where's that unfounded stability comment coming from?
From me as a 3d modeler. I have used both max and maya, and for me max has been crashing way often, but if you think it's user error, let it be. To OP, you won't start creating good animations in matter of seconds. At least half a year of education is needed to create something decent.
If you're a student you can get 3DSMax 2010 for a year free.
Either user error or you using an old version, I reckon
Max 2009, not so old, is it? FYI I still use max, even though it crashes more.
In your opinion.
Don't be a dorkwinkle. 3DS Max is a poorly-supported pile of only intermittently compatible 3rd party plugins that's pretty much beyond salvation at this point. There's a reason Autodesk keeps buying up superior 3D apps (like Maya) instead of improving their own. (This is corroborated by a friend at Neversoft, who does character modelling and animation)
I use 3ds max regularly, but TBH I hate it. Here's a list of stuff that happens all the time: - Crashes - Freezing - Viewports not updating - White flashes And so on. There's also lots of 3rd party plugins that are very handy (SMD export/inport) but are just outdated and give errors and shit. But, ignoring all that, it's a great program.
I'm doing a degree in animation, Maya has the best ease of use and is EXTREMELY powerful... Although, it'll take a hell of a lot of practice to just "make a movie"

You should try Lightwave 3D.

I'm getting both in a package (cheaper that way) so if one is better than the other I won't have a problem. :smug:
I pray that last zero was a typo
Nope, a full license is that expensive, Maya is 4090 and 3Ds Max is 3900 or something like that, though I think that includes a subscription, whatever that does. And I would be slightly wary of Maya on a mac, it's pretty buggy people have had it forget how to save in my class.
