For three straight days last week, Shia LaBeouf sat in a small theater at New York’s Angelika Film Center and watched each of his films in reverse chronological order for a project titled #ALLMYMOVIES. And although the actor remained mostly mute throughout the entire thing — which was open to the public for free — he opened up about the experience in an interview alongside collaborators Luke Turner and Nastja Säde Rönkko for his first post-#ALLMYMOVIES chat. In the interview, LaBeouf discussed his initial worries that fellow audience members would throw popcorn at him or “light [his] hair on fire,” fears stemming from the deeper panic of people hating him. “All I want to do is be liked,” he said. ” … You just don’t want anyone to hate you. I walked out loving myself. Not in some grandiose, you’re f—ing awesome way, but in like, you’re a part of a community. You’re part of this human thing. You’re in this human thing.” LaBeouf described this feeling of community in relation to the Even Stevens Movie, a screening he giddily smiled through. “It wasn’t just me smilling like that,” he said. “If you look at the freeze frames, everyone is smiling like, wow, I remember Beans. I remember that stupid-ass song. We were all looking at our yearbooks together and we’re all in the yearbook.”
http://www.ew.com/article/2015/11/16/shia-labeouf-all-my-movies-interview
I can't tell if he's trying to be ironic or if he's just gone crazy.
Sounds like he was pretty depressed and this helped him stop beating the shit out of himself, personally I really do understand where this is coming from and how it can actually help and good on him for it. Sometimes people can take themselves too seriously in the worst possible (and insane) ways and sometimes you need to do things like this so you can demonstrate what you fear (rationally or not) to other people and they can tell you that you don't need to be afraid of it and you're not goddamn crazy. I can imagine that, as an actor, having the audience laugh with you through things you cringe at remembering yourself would help you accept that these things are okay and to stop worrying about them. though this kind of thing can get as simple as talking to someone you trust which -surprise- is what a therapist is for.
People give him more shit than he deserves, deep down he's just a human being.
Honestly the guy doesn't deserve half the shit that he gets. He can be a great actor as long as he catches the role.
Yeah. I really liked him in Fury.
Yeah, after so many Transformers movies and his erratic behavior, I kinda didn't like him, but he's actually rather interesting and seems like he would be a fairly fun guy to hang out with. Like the friend you don't see often, but when you get together you cut up and have a lot of laughs, and just generally have a great night together.
Yeah. I really liked him in Fury.
he needs to do more good stuff like Fury and less shitty cash-ins like Transformers [editline]17th November 2015[/editline] he's clearly a capable actor in the right roles, he just takes the stupidest roles and that's why he has a crappy reputation

Watching him laughing and genuinely enjoying the Even Stevens movie honestly made me smile too.
He's either insane, or a genius, but what's the difference?
He's either insane, or a genius, but what's the difference?
Why not both?
Look how genuinely happy he is
When did he start thinking everyone hated him? Or how did it start?
When did he start thinking everyone hated him? Or how did it start?
When he started acting like a crazy person, putting a paper bag in his head.

I dunno why people complain about him so much. But then again, I never watched transformers.
Honestly the guy doesn't deserve half the shit that he gets. He can be a great actor as long as he catches the role.
I liked how he did in Fury, that WW2 tank movie.
When he started acting like a crazy person, putting a paper bag in his head.
Nah, I feel like he was disliked from as early as iRobot and Constantine simply based on acting skills.
I've always liked him. He feels like an actor that isn't molded by some PR crew. Sure, he gets a little crazy here and there, but we all do. And seeing a 'famous actor' get like that makes me feel like he's a real human. I relate to him a some levels. Seeing him have a 'great' life with money and such, and still needing to find himself. Which he does through art and all the different strange things he does. I get it.

Plus, he's funny as all hell in a lot of his interviews and I enjoy his charismatic, idgaf attitude.
Kid's had a fucked up life. It's shocking how well he's taken it all.
Nah, I feel like he was disliked from as early as iRobot and Constantine simply based on acting skills.
iRobot and Constantine weren't really serious films though. Same thing with the Transformers films and Indiana Jones 4. In the serious work he's done, his acting skills really break through (i.e. Fury, Lawless, The Greatest Game Ever Played, Disturbia...). He's actually a pretty great actor, and he seems like a nice enough person. Considering what he's been through in his life, it's, as someone else said, amazing that he's turned out as well as he has. Good for him. That's all I can say.
Maybe seeing his older movies and getting a new appreciation for his works can help inspire him with later roles
What happened to him? It's news to me that he had a fucked up life.
Shia was fantastic in Holes
not all his stuff is crap, but a significantly large amount of stuff from transformers onwards is [editline]18th November 2015[/editline] he should do more serious stuff like fury though, that was the shia i wanted to pay to see
The only horrible thing he's really done in my eyes is that whole plagiarism thing he was involved in. He's an entertaining personality and a fairly decent actor.
When did he start thinking everyone hated him? Or how did it start?
mainly when he made a short film that scene for scene plagiarized a daniel clowes comic, all the while shia denied it idk it was a shitty thing to do but the guy's paid his dues in the shaming that followed
