not exactly sure if the dog actually sees what's going on in the video. i guess it's more stimulated by the voice of its owner being produced by the notebook but it's still a p cool video.
I love goldens. When I think "dog," a golden is the first image to pop to mind. I tried doing this sort of thing with my dog, but that was before I knew he was blind so I thought he was just dumb for not reacting.
what a beautifully doge i always wanted a retriever

Dogs see in the same wave range we do.

I wonder if he knew it was himself
i don't think so, dogs and cats don't even realize it's them in the mirror

i don't think so, dogs and cats don't even realize it's them in the mirror
I've heard the only 'animals' that actually recognize the fact that the reflection they are seeing is themselves are Apes and Dolphins, and us of course And you ever see a video where a guy is in front of a mirror just being into himself? Dolphins are that guy
I've heard the only 'animals' that actually recognize the fact that the reflection they are seeing is themselves are Apes and Dolphins, and us of course
Elephants and Common Magpies, too.

Dolphins are that guy
Some smart dogs can do it as well, and can be tested in ways involving showing the dog while it's looking in the mirror that you are putting something on it's head, but in a way that it can't feel or smell it coming towards it, only seeing it via it's reflection. All the test proves is that some dogs may have a basic sense of 'self', but I doubt any dog would recognize that a video of it was actually ever that dog, only in realtime they would be able to judge a reflection as it's own. This sort of test is called the Mirror Test and has been done on many species of animals
but that was before I knew he was blind so I thought he was just dumb for not reacting.
That's funny and overwhelmingly... sad
Elephants and Common Magpies, too.
And sheep.
i always wanted a dog please give me adoge
i don't think so, dogs and cats don't even realize it's them in the mirror
My cat does it seems, if he sees his reflection he doesn't give two shits about it and doesn't stop doing whatever he's doing, not really sure how that works
My cat doesn't give a shit if it sees itself in the mirror, maybe it's retarded or something
My dog flips the fuck out whenever he sees an animal on TV. My favorite time was when I was watching The Godfather, and there's a scene in Sicily where you can barely see a donkey or something on the other side of a valley. He saw that right away, I had to back it up a few times before I could find it.
I have that exact laptop

this is a pretty accurate video on goldens i got two and my youngest is mute, hasn't barked ever. the other one is old, short and fat though.
Some birds as well and I think whales.
i wonder how they did the test with a whale lol

I have a Golden and Flatcoat retriever. Flatcoats are adorable and I recommend getting one. They don't really grow out of their puppy stage so their whole lives they do cute stuff and they respond directly to attention while my golden is a fatty who just grunts when you pet her :V

I sometimes react the same when I see myself in the mirror.
that is a beautiful golden retriever :3 he/she looks very well taken care of
Why are they called Golden Retrievers if they never bring back any gold?
What a cute vid. Kind of like a canine version of this vid.
i wonder how they did the test with a whale lol
It's only tested with Orcas.
I don't even think it was the voice of the owner. I think it was the fact the there was a dog like shape moving on the screen that made him bark. It's not too uncommon for dogs to start barking when they see something like that on TV for example

Golden retrievers are the most beautiful, caring, kindest of dogs that there is, probably the only ones that I can tolerate and actually care for
