• My phone has an obsession with pocket-dialing emergency services.

This has happened many times in the last 2 weeks, in programming. It starts with my LG Xenon being off in my pocket, with my pin code set so you have to either enter it to use any features, EXCEPT calling local emergency services. Bad idea right? Well having a phone in college isn't the best idea unless it's secured somehow, gets stolen, maybe used to call paid porn service before you can get them to stop your SIM card. The next part is my phone hitting something such as loose change or a pencil in my pocket. Turning it on. It gets to the screen where it asks for your pin code, presses more hitting random places until... *ring*... *ri "911 emergency", the only thing is it's automatically set to go to speaker so everyone hears it. I quickly hang up, teacher comes and asks for my phone. I gladly gave it to her, gladly coming from the fact that you can get in deep shit for hanging up on a 911 operator. Now the teacher was nice enough to give it back a few minutes later, as always I rip the battery out so the police don't call back and get all pissy. Like I said my phone has done this MANY times in the last 2 weeks. The police have not physically confronted me, however they have called and not left a message. Also I'm not really in need of a cure for this 911 pocket-dialing since it's funny sometimes. Don't say take the battery out in class because I tried that and it ended with me getting a new battery for $20. Not carrying is not an option either, for reasons I'm not willing to discuss.
I think you need a blog too.
Take out battery or Get new phone or Leave in car/locker
Take out battery or Get new phone or Leave in car/locker
Edited, read last line.
don't keep loose chance in your pockets, it might even scratch the screen if you're real unlucky
You should probably invest in a phone that has a "lock" feature on it. On locked phones, dialing ANYTHING is not an option, so pocket dialing never happens unless you somehow press the unlock button which usually isn't that possible since the buttons are on the side. But yeah, look for a new phone if this is really a problem. If your phone service allows "upgrades", then look into one of those and you can get a discount on phones available for upgrade. I myself have an LG Vu. I've never pocket dialed anyone in the year I've had this phone, so I would assume that's a good thing.
My phone pocket dialed 911 while I was brushing my teeth. Aparently keyguard doesn't block out the number 9 for some reason, and 11 was pressed aswell somehow
don't keep loose chance in your pockets, it might even scratch the screen if you're real unlucky
screen protectors my friend, they are the condoms of the phone world
You can dial 911/112/etc while the phone is locked. On keyboard phones.
You can dial 911/112/etc while the phone is locked. On keyboard phones.
Well usually keyboard phones have to slide out, so unless your butt manages to slide the keyboard out and dial 911, then I don't think that would be a problem.
screen protectors my friend, they are the condoms of the phone world
still, wouldn't the problem be solved without having loose change or something in your pocket
Edited, read last line.
Discuss your reasons or my suggestion stands.
still, wouldn't the problem be solved without having loose change or something in your pocket
presses against my ass and... "other parts" sometimes
turn your phone off when you're not using it it will still collect voice mail and text messages for you
turn your phone off when you're not using it it will still collect voice mail and text messages for you
I think you might have misread something.
It really isn't that hard to put your phone aside when you're not using it. Just put it in your backpack and check it once you're done with class.
It really isn't that hard to put your phone aside when you're not using it. Just put it in your backpack and check it once you're done with class.
I'm not really looking for a solution, it's funny sometimes.
My phone NEVER does that shit. Because it's touch screen and I push the "lock" button. This thread is now showing off the phone you have. HOTLINKIIIING.
I'm not really looking for a solution, it's funny sometimes.
You're flirting with disaster, amigo. You're also being an asshole, I'm sure the emergency service operators would agree.
so you have your phone off and then it turns itself on and enters your PIN and calls 911 why don't you just give your phone its own pocket loose change belongs in your wallet and keep your pencil tucked behind your ear or something
I pocked texted the N word to my mother, seriously. She didn't believe me :frown:

Also people can't seem to understand that the phone is off, it turns on, at the pin screen, presses call emergency services.
oh I see you made this thread for really no reason at all except to tell us good for you then, I hope you get charged
oh I see you made this thread for really no reason at all except to tell us good for you then, I hope you get charged
Thank you lol, I am doing a lot to stop it and it's certainly decreased in frequency.
you know I find that hard to believe considering "doing a lot" would far exceed the simple action of setting the phone aside when you're not physically using it
you know I find that hard to believe considering "doing a lot" would far exceed the simple action of setting the phone aside when you're not physically using it
Doing a lot is basically putting it in a pocket where it can't get pressed. and putting the sim card in backwards if I don't need to use it.
While my Samsung Star was in my pocket, I forgot to lock it and it messaged "imbreak up" to my girlfriend. I'm now single again :crying:
