The district is legally required to provide the students with an education. This means the students will be transferred to the district Reengagement Center. This program keeps middle school students on track academically. It also requires them to complete community service. Each student will be required to complete 50 hours of community service with senior citizens and will complete a formal program in bullying prevention.
Ha.
Each student will be required to complete 50 hours of community service with senior citizens and will complete a formal program in bullying prevention
Good, but I think the little cunts deserve more.
Glad that they have to complete atleast 3 days of community service. Justice is served, I guess.

There we go!
I didn't expect anything to happen. Awesome.
I don't know how these little shits think what they do is ok. The thought of acting the way they do is so utterly alien to me. Even when I was their age that kind of behavior never crossed my mind.
Ban them from bus transportation forever. Make their parents lug their ass to school until they can get a car.
I'd say the punishment is fair. I doubt they'll do it again.
justice
The word "Owned" comes to mind.

Reading this legitimately brought a smile to my face. It's always good to hear idiots like this getting what they deserve.
i gotta say impairing them from actual education for a whole year seems like a terrible idea
"bullying" is a pretty broad definition Is there any more specifics for what these kids actually did?
They did write what seemed like genuine and heartfelt apologies and the bus monitor did not accept the apologies. While obviously she has every right to do so (and in my opinion she did the right thing), suspending the kids from school is very extreme. I completely understand suspending them from the bus service, but how will disrupting their education help?
Damn, it sucks to be them. Wesley Helm was one of the kids involved and so was Luis Recio
i gotta say impairing them from actual education for a whole year seems like a terrible idea
The state cannot legally deny education, so they're stuck with going to a remedial school, which is basically like being in a military school only you get to come home after the day is over. Uniforms, strict, worst of the worst students from the county also attend [editline]29th June 2012[/editline]
"bullying" is a pretty broad definition Is there any more specifics for what these kids actually did?
Here you go, there's more than one video of different occasions

I remember helping out at a senior home when I was a little kid and the smell was horrid. The place was probably sad as hell too, maybe they'll have a 'tuesdays with morrie' breakthrough.
"bullying" is a pretty broad definition Is there any more specifics for what these kids actually did?
They verbally degraded an old bus monitor lady for literally no reason, and somebody recorded it. The original video is on youtube. Just search bus monitor bullying and you'll find it. Well anyways, watching the videos on the news website in the OP really brought tears to my eyes, the lady seems so nice, and it's good to see that justice is being served.
i gotta say impairing them from actual education for a whole year seems like a terrible idea
Definitely. While it's disrespectful, it's nothing really worth a one-year suspension from school and a ban from school-transport. Heck, I think they deserve a one week suspension and an anti-bullying session at most, considering how their reputation is entirely ruined now. No one can really argue that it was the best way to do this because it isn't. I've seen kids hitting or insulting teachers, they received a much more minor punishment, and they've stopped doing that exact same thing.
Oh whatever. Shit much worse than that goes on every single day and is laughed off and ignored by school administrations. If it didn't go viral on the internet nothing would have ever happened.
They were total assholes and scumbags and deserve to be punished, but I feel a full year suspension is a little bit extreme.
Counter bullying with more bullying. Fucking GENIUS!
Nothing wrong with them getting a little taste of their own medicine.
Nothing wrong with them getting a little taste of their own medicine.
The worst mindset ever
Justice has been served... Smokin Hot.
They're not getting suspended from all education; just from school. It says so right there in the article: "The district is legally required to provide the students with an education. This means the students will be transferred to the district Reengagement Center. This program keeps middle school students on track academically." Sure it probably won't be as good in terms of educational quality, but it's better than nothing.
Hah, and i bet these little punkass kids thought they got away with it.

You can also graduate very early if you want and has quality education (if not better.)
