I wonder how much he gets paid to build this.
I love practical effects
thats pretty awesome, i always thought they CG'd it
There's a 99℅ Invisible episode about how food advertising has changed from boring still shots to lively moving ones. There's always some kind of crazy jig and lots of cameras you'd expect in action movies. I highly recommend giving it a listen.
Practical effects are so awesome
fuck I want a burger now :(
Why not just film every ingredient falling separately and then edit them in together?

Because then you don't get to make a robot to do it right in front of you.

If it makes you feel any better I'm pretty certain the ketchup and mustard were edited in unless they snuck in a mustard and ketchup robot in the middle of the shot
Do it with a pizza!!!!

Not exactly the same, but you can see the amount of effort going to making food adverts:

because they end up touching each other in the end?

Yeah if you watch the video, you can see that the ketchup/mustard rig is separate and there's like two drop rig assemblies - the one in the gif is like the 'final fall' with the top ingredients attached to the top bun and it lands well, but the midflight stuff is from another drop where the ingredients are separated and fall from greater heights and splatter in the landing.
This whole video is just cool.

It looks like they had to edit it anyway. The final shot had sauce flying in and gherkins and lettuce separately, where the behind the scenes shot has all that together already.

Basic cutting in video is different from just having them all be separate, and then somehow simulating their movment when they hit and interact with eachother.

Yeah it looks like there is actually two sequences. One with the top ingredients falling high from the ground and then another with all the ingredients closer to the ground where they stack nicely.
Well that makes three sequences if we count the sauce.
Yeah the ketchup mustard rig is definitely separate. They shot a blank plate, the burger falling shot, and a mustard ketchup as a third shot then they composited it all together.

There are actually 3 separate sequences edited together.
1. Ketchup Meets Mustard
2. Ingredients
3. The Landing
