• Trump Son-in-Law Jared Kushner to Be Named Senior White House Adviser
President-elect Donald Trump is to make son-in-law Jared Kushner one of his senior advisers. The 35-year-old played a key role in the presidential campaign and his new White House job will cover both domestic and foreign policy. Mr Kushner, who is married to Ivanka Trump, is a property developer with a wide range of business interests. His appointment will be controversial because of nepotism laws and concerns over potential conflicts. The news was confirmed by Trump spokeswoman Kellyanne Conway, who described it as the "best news of the day". Members of Mr Trump's team have argued that a law barring officials from giving government jobs to relatives does not apply to White House positions. There are also federal ethics laws that mean government employees cannot profit from any businesses. ... Mr Kushner was often seen by his father-in-law's side during the presidential campaign and was heavily involved in its digital strategy. He was said to have played a role in the ousting of New Jersey Governor Chris Christie from the transition team during the campaign. While US attorney for New Jersey, Mr Christie prosecuted Mr Kushner's father for tax evasion and witness tampering, and he served a jail sentence. Mr Kushner has also been present at Cabinet interviews and in key meetings with foreign leaders.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-38564469
Insane how much a single man can fuck up, Jesus-fucking-Christ. You have to be willfully ignorant to not notice that Trump is doing the exact opposite of "draining the swamp".
damn the crooked clintons and their nepotism right
so now hes done litterally everything he accused clinton of.
Oh yes, Jared Kushner of New York Observer fame. His company wrote a fuckton of pro-trump articles all throughout the election with that infamous "Disclosure: Donald Trump is the father-in-law of Jared Kushner, the publisher of Observer Media." at the end of every trump article. I'm really curious to why I don't hear any outrage about Trump's ties to the media by the alt-right. They're usually so quick to accuse political figures of having these sort of conflicts of interest.

These accusations of corruption only hold water for them when they're with regards to groups that they disagree with.
Sure is weird how the only people Trump trusts are related to him or related to his offspring.
This is actually hilarious. People accuse Trump of having a conflict of interest due to his close links to the family and their business. So instead of pushing them away and putting them at arms lengths, he just goes fuck it, and brings them right into the fold.
I remember a couple of people enthusiastically calling for Ivanka Trump to be appointed Vice President, so I doubt people will criticize this much. The Clinton dynasty is one of the things I really held against Clinton, because it really goes against the principles of democracy in my opinion, but it seems Trump will be much of the same, just with way worse policies.

While of course this continues to showcase how ridiculous this all is. Also, regardless, he would have went to him for advice whether or not his son-in-law was hired in an official capacity.

Issue is that Trump is currently, beyond any ambiguity, knowingly or unknowinglyviolating the law, both in spirit and letter. It doesn't matter if the President can change laws; I mean if that's so, why wouldn't he wait until then before hiring his son-in-law? Last I checked, these kinds of laws aren't retroactive. Donald Trump now has an undebatable legal booger clinging to the sheet of paper that is his summary as president before he's even commenced his job as president.

It also doesn't matter that it's illegal. If nobody enforces the law, the law may just as well be nonexistent. And right now, a lot of people in our government apparently don't care to enforce the law-- whether we're talking about them not following through with the process for vetting the president-elect's cabinet nominees, them not making more of a fuss about Trump's obvious conflicts of interest that make him unfit for office, the issues with the Russians meddling in our election, etc.
I take back what I said about him getting impeached six months from inauguration. I give him a week.

It's not enforced? Care to bring up some examples? I myself am not actually aware as to this issue.
Surprisingly due to an 1978 congress ruling the White House is not an agency, which makes this legal. Ethically though...
No one cares whether it's ethical or not. Just look at all the shit Trump has said and done; people still voted for him, and even with what he is doing now, people are still showing him undying support. Like he said himself, he could gun down a man and it would not affect people's views on him.
Really? It's not enforced? Care to bring up some examples? I myself am not actually aware as to this issue.
It was apparently something JFK did and got away with, buuut... JFK died in '63, and this law was passed in '67.
I hope it's sooner than that.
Honestly, I hope that he turns around on every single terrible promise he's made during the campaign and miraculously turns into a good president over the next four years. Failing that incredibly unlikely scenario, I hope he turns out to be just incompetent enough to not accomplish anything, without fucking up anything major. Look at it like a hangover. You hope it'll go over smoothly, but at the end of the day you'll be glad if you managed to get through it without throwing up and shitting yourself. And then we can go back to having a normal life in four years.
Really? It's not enforced? Care to bring up some examples? I myself am not actually aware as to this issue.
I'm speaking in terms of this situation. At this moment in 2017, in spite of all the obvious legal issues with Trump becoming president, nothing is being done against him. No legal action is being taken over the improper vetting of his cabinet nominees, nobody's doing anything (yet anyway) about this issue with his son-in-law, nobody's raising hell over his obvious conflicts of interest (as a billionaire businessman) that make him unfit for office in the first place... Unless their idea is to wait until Trump actually takes office before they impeach him. Which is a possibility, as others have suggested. But until they actually start enforcing the law here, then it doesn't mean anything. Laws are just words until there's actual physical enforcement of those words.
Hey at least we kept out the Clinton and Bush dynasty

fun fact: Kushner's dad was imprisoned by Chris Christie for tax evasion, illegal political contribution, and witness tampering. This can only be good. /s
I wonder if the republicans are just egging on trump to do this so they can have a valid reason to impeach and have Pence as president instead.
Surprisingly due to an 1978 congress ruling the White House is not an agency, which makes this legal. Ethically though...
Which ruling was that? Couldn't find it.

Wont be so hilarious then, hmm?
