Why are extremely old threads getting to the top of the Popular Feed, especially if they don't even

I've been seeing for the past couple of weeks, and I just needed to ask. Is a spam bot bumping it, then that bump gets deleted, and then the thread is locked?

I really doubt a huge group of people happen to find an old thread, and they all decide to view it at the same time, thus, bumping that old, locked thread to the top of the Popular feed.
