I searched around so I hope it isn't late I don't know how to get the different url with the new youtube layout It's a cool concept, but I'm not sure if it's actually possible

No.
It's not going to work. There is just no way it's possible.
Would be an awful game.
Can I be the ideas guy
For the first 40 seconds I was convinced it would be like "There is a game like that, it's called being alive," or something like that.
Yeah, no. I just don't see how.

might as well just do all that in real life
might as well just do all that in real life
spoiler: it has all already happened, welcome to the universe project.
spoiler: it has all already happened, welcome to the universe project.
Friend me in-game. My name is xXxHumanoidGeek6064326620xXx on the USA server.
the video is not convincing enough. needs more inception bwongs
If it ever does get made, it'll be like Spore in that every element is there, but its all really basic and just poorly done.
Nice try, but this isn't The Magical Realms of Tir na Nog: Escape from Necron 7 - The Revenge of Cuchulainn: The Official Game of the Movie - Chapter 2 of the Hoopz Barkley SaGa AKA Charles Barkely's Shut up and Jam: Gaiden 2.
So... Second Life combined with Wurm? Yeah that'll end well...
I lost it when they showed it on an iPhone at the end.
I wonder how many fuckheads are going to donate to this...
I want to make a game with an item creation style that would use nodes for item creation and construction. Kind of like a mix between Garrysmod's quirky physics and rocket building (sockets) in Kerbal Space Program. So an example would be if you take a lead pipe, you could stick a tin can at the end of it by socketing particular nodes, then it could become a crude "gun". Or if you were to "tie" a string around it, maybe twine some nails to the other end, it could become some strange blunt/spiked flail weapon. What if you were to socket lenses inside of this lead pipe? Then it could become a crude scope with fixed magnification. Integrate a framework so you could use any item any way possible, through the opportunities provided. So you could enter an "item swing" mode and flail your gun or maybe a backpack around if you so desired, even though it would be more optimal to choose maybe a sword or a pole or something. Fighting with a saw, smack someone with a bow, or throw teddy bears at people. How about a harpoon gun that has a torch tied to the end of it just because you can. What if you were to tie two grenades on either end of a string, and use it as some kind of strange and dangerous exploding bola. Only thing stopping me is that I don't know how to code, and I am having such a hard time trying to find a good way of getting into learning it.
I hope they finish it and include permanent death and craftable viking armor none shall escape
That what I was thinking are people so unsatisfied with their lives they seek to recreate the entirety of what life is, in a video game?
It's the ability to go into a character and do what you can't without consequence, but still be in a recognizeable environment.
The critical flaw in this is that lack of players. People aren't going to pay a sub anymore. How to they plan to make money in f2p in an Eve like world? They are shooting for EVE on the ground. I don't think they can do that.
I'm a little bit torn. On one hand, I kinda like this idea and would like to see it come to fruition eventually. On the other hand there would be alot to put into this project just for it to work. Things like a shit load of cash for instance, and servers. Personally though, I'd like to see this game be made.
sounds like what spore wanted to be but never was and never will be
It is possible but they don't have what it takes to make such a game.
This is pretty impressive. Impossible, but impressive.
This is pretty impressive. Impossible, but impressive.
What's impressive about it? It's just an idea, hell, kiddies in the GMod subforum post about this very same game idea oodles of times, remarking how amazing it would be to have a hyper realistic server gamemode or some shit. Unless these guys can somehow manage to prove us all wrong, they're just as delusional as those kids are. Either they have no scope of the work necessary to get even a fraction of this working, or their scam artists.
I hope they don't make a kickstarter. Knowing how stupid people are, it would actually get funded. The game they describe is physically impossible. [editline]6th January 2013[/editline] Oh god on their website.
Show your support in this pre-kickstarter campaign and help make this a reality!
Eh, I don't doubt this being possible as much as I doubt it being any fun. There's ultra-realistic games like that already, like Wurm and Mortal Online, and they're both hilariously unfun if you're not willing to invest loads of time and put up with lots of shit mechanics.
That what I was thinking are people so unsatisfied with their lives they seek to recreate the entirety of what life is, in a video game?
Oh come on that is a horrible argument.
