Several cars were smashed as they were hit by the falling animals or swerved to avoid them. Many sheep were killed or injured, but Melbourne police said there were no human casualties. Police say that the lorry was travelling to the town of Geelong when the accident occurred on the flyover above the Princess Freeway. The cause of the incident is still being determined. "This is quite an unusual event," Allan Eade, a paramedic, told the Associated Press news agency. "First of all we looked up and we could see the truck flip on its side and the next minute we were underneath and well, yeah, it rained sheep," passenger Christey Davis also told AP.
Day ruined :( my heart goes out to the families of the sheep
Jesus, imagine how freaked out the people underneath would have been.
lol that happened only a few kilometers away from my house. Silly sheep.
"This is quite an unusual event,"
No, it would seem hundreds of sheep don't plummet into oncoming traffic all too often.
Several cars were smashed as they were hit by the falling animals or swerved to avoid them.
That created a really funny image in my head.
What a surreal situation; went from tragic, past funny and straight into bizarre.
What a surreal situation; went from tragic, past funny and straight into bizarre.
It crossed the line twice. :v:
How much wool did they drop
I saw some footage of several cars with shattered windshields (hell, even crushed hoods as if they drove into a tree) this morning on our news channel. It surprises me nobody got hurt. I definitely wouldn't want a sheep crashing on my windshield on the highway. [editline]1st June 2012[/editline]
How much wool did they drop
4 full stacks by the looks of it
I bet only one absolutely had to fall but the rest all followed it.
Did any of the sheep survive?
Poor little sheeps.
I've had dreams like this.
Let us have a moment of silence for all the potential sweaters we lost in this disaster.
Let us have a moment of silence for all the potential sweaters we lost in this disaster.
What do you mean? They can just clean the wool..
Poor sheep. I hope the insurance companies aren't assholes to the people involved in this. "Ooooooh, I'm so sorry, Mr. Smith, but our policy doesn't cover sheep."
That IS a sheer drop to the cars below.

It's like I want to ask that sheep "What are you lookin' at?" but I don't because I know his answer will be "Ewe".
