i find it weird how he's able to just scrape that rust off at the start
Okay, that's pretty impressive but I keep getting distracted by his cats.
THEY'RE SO FLUFFY!
Apparently, there's a video of him making a fancy dish for one of his cats.

It was at this point that kitty realized he should start getting his act together.
I wish he made more videos on this channel, they're so addicting to watch.

That knife is too fucking cool, I can't believe someone would sell that for 3$ even in a bad condition
Really cool, but if he spent that much time on the $1 knife it would be just as sharp. It probably wouldn't last nearly that long though.
Does anyone know what it says on the side of the knife?

I can't get my Google Translate app to translate the middle character, but the first and third characters are "open" and "six", according to it.
The best guess I had for the middle character, out of many attempts, had it translate to "Gen. VI", which I assume means "generation 6". Given the context, I think that's an appropriate translation.
Of course, if anyone can actually read it, then take their word over mine. :v:

Google translate is wrong for the first character. The last character is "Six/Roku/六", but the inscription is actually the name of the knives manufacturer 関孫六 (Seki Magoroku) and the other inscription reads 白鋼 (White Steel).
Source: The guy who made the video posted this in the Youtube comments. The only bits I could actually make out from the video were 六 and 白.
You can apparently buy one here too if you want: http://www.komeri.com/disp/CKmSfGoodsPageMain_001.jsp?GOODS_NO=959959

I'm not that much into culinary but boy do I love kitchen knives. I need to get a proper sharpening stone someday.
Seki is a town in Japan historically famous for blacksmithing, and as a result there's dozens of kitchen knife manufacturers from there. Magoroku is one of the more globalized brands, guy in the video uses one for his main knife as well. Slightly disappointed on the fact that it wasn't a rare handcrafted $500 knife but its still a good find. Especially when you realize it can go for upwards of $100 in the link above. To be fair almost any knives by Kai is good, I mean they own kershaw as well.
Can we talk about this guy though? This dude seriously knows what he's doing. There's no way he's not a professional chef.

That editing is amazing too.
The cooking impressed me but the kitty impressed me more
Making dirty things clean is so satisfying to watch.
Especially so when there's a kitty companion.
