Mine got to be The Arsonits, Non-Phixion, Wu-Tang Clan, Hieroglyphics, N Big L
All these have flow, lyrics, metaphors, story telling, producing and live play unmatched by anybody,
Don't get me wrong 2pac and biggie had some pretty songs to but nobody revolutionized the rap game like these five

I'll go with Busta Rhymes, Dead Prez, Jurassic 5, MF Doom, Mos Def, Nas, Outkast, The Roots, Will Smith, and Snoop Dogg as my favorite "Old School" rappers.

But I don't really care about who "started rap". It's changed a lot, and most older rappers I don't enjoy as much as new stuff.
