It's a little less than a week until Google reveals its new Nexus devices in San Francisco, but as seems to happen every year, we know pretty much every detail beforehand. Oddly, one of the last things we knew about the new LG and Huawei Nexus phones were their actual names. A rumor last week suggested that LG's 5.2-inch follow-up to the 2013 Nexus 5 would be called the Nexus 5X, and that Huawei's 5.7-inch flagship would go by Nexus 6P. Android Police can now confirm the rumors with these exclusive images of the retail packaging for both phones.

We're only a few days away from the new Nexus announcement, and it's prime time for some leaks. We've already revealed the Nexus 5X and 6P boxes (along with confirming the names), but what about the phones themselves? Well, we've got a high-resolution press image of the Nexus 6P, and it is indeed that phone that was leaked a few weeks ago with the black bar on the back.

The Nexus 6P isn't as mysterious as it was yesterday thanks to the leaked image and the picture of the box we posted earlier, but what about color choices? We've got that covered. Above you can see the four color options for the Huawei Nexus.

We've already gotten a good look at the Huawei-built Nexus 6P, but what of its smaller sibling, the repeatedly leaked Nexus 5X from LG? We've got a full image of that one too. It's definitely the more attractive of this year's two Nexus phones, but at least you've got a choice this time—we usually only have one.
Like the 6P, the front is very plain. Although, the bezels of the 5X don't look quite as symmetrical as the 6P. There are two grilles on the front, presumably for front-facing speakers. On the back is a fingerprint sensor, and directly above that the camera lens. There's a slight bump around the camera, but it's less jarring than the black bar on the 6P.
So I'll never see a under 5" phone ever again? Ugh.
My Galaxy S4 will have to live for a while longer, then.

why would you think that? There are plenty, most notably Sony's xperia compact series.

It seems all under-5" are not flagship phones, with sub-standard resolutions.
I have seen "small" phones, but they are always 720p or lower, or don't have micro SD support.
Since the S4 that I haven't found the perfect phone for me.
So this seems to be Huaweis ticket into flagship phone status in North America.
Hope it isn't poop quality like most of their phones are.
I have an S4 and when my upgrade discount date came around i didn't bother because tbh other than than core functions like maps, gmail, web browser etc. most apps feel like clutter that you can live without and it hardly seems like a new phone would offer anything extra.
I've always wanted a nice clean nexus phone though, so if the 5X actually comes to Verizon I'll pick it up.

the xperia compact seems like exactly what you're describing, and 720p at sub 5" is perfectly fine
fucking camera bumps
So the specs for the 5X are shown, but I can't seem to find anything aside from the storage size or the screen size on the 6P.

I had seen a spec list before, and in my Googling I came across this-
It's going to be a powerful new Nexus 6P if the loftier rumors are true about its processor. There's a Snapdragon 820 processor at the heart of this phone, according to OnLeaks.
Source
Isn't OnLeaks a mostly-reliable source of leaked information? How in the world are they insinuating that it will have the 820?
Man those are some really ugly ass phones, does no one have a sense of hardware design at google or what
That camera bump wouldn't be so bad actually, to this day I still mix up the orientation of my Nexus 5 in my pocket because it's just a big smooth slab all over.

Pretty easy when you feel the sides.
Mobile phones have hit a plateau, I can see no reason to change my G3 at this moment in time. If I felt the need for better pictures I would simply buy a DSLR.

They're all shoved in to the pixel team.
fucking camera bumps
Why are phone makers so obsessed with making phones as thin as possible that they'd rather just have the camera lens stick out from the rest of it than add a couple millimetres?
If it has to be at least that thick for the lens, make the whole phone that thick and stick a slightly larger battery in or something.
Sold my Galaxy S6 for one of these phones. Someone posted that the 6P has a 3000+mAh battery. If so, that seems like a good choice for decent battery life.

You couldn't wait another week until reviews come out?
There's no guarantee these phones will be at all worth while. You just sold the best Android phone ever for some rumors

The battery on it sucked ass in my opinion. Even if both of the Nexus phones suck ass, I want to get something else.
[editline]24th September 2015[/editline]
I also disliked not being able to put CM / AOSP on it.
Man, they look ugly as fuck. I think I'll stick to the 2013 Nexus 5.

Xperia compact series my friend....
Ill get the z3c when it goes down in price. Shoumd be a no brainer with a gigantic battery life, good cam, good specs and only 4.6", even smaller than my m2

But the compact series are 720p...
But the compact series are 720p...
Yes, it's a notably smaller screen so it has a lower resolution. How is this hard to grasp? It's still a fairly similar DPI to 1080p@5.5"
4 mobiles being used in my household are a G3 at 1440p an S4 at 1080p a HTC One X+ at 720p and a Motorola Defy at 480p.
They get progressively bigger as their resolutions go up so the difference in resolution is hardly noticeable.
I liked the old nexus 5's design much much better. The 5x looks pretty ugly in comparison, tbh.

looks alot like the dota logo
But the compact series are 720p...
It's not so bad. Plus it saves on power I would guess?...
I'd exchange a screen for device size tbh. Phones nowadays are GIGANTIC.
(as long as it isn't 200ppi or something that bad)
looks alot like the dota logo

And then we get "Valve Corporation v. Google Inc."...
The difference is inperceptible at that PPI
We can't all live with ~250 ppi.
1280x720 at 4.3" is 350 PPI
Wasn't the Sony I was talking about. Just trying to trigger you.
