Update: I've decided to keep her :3: ! Facepunchers! I have came in possesion of a ... baby? Hedgehog. Thing is, I have no clue whatsoever on how to take care of him/her! Backstory; My mom works as a dispatcher for the local police force. One of the officers found the hedgehog, on the side of the road, and asked her to call in Animal Control. She did, they said they'd probably have to kill it or something, so instead she put him in a box and once her shift was done she came home with it. Now, I have a decent-sized tank I used for my Bearded Dragon (that passed away :saddowns:) so .. I put a couple towels down in it, put some water in a small thingy and threw in some dogfood and carrots and then put him in it. Any tips/guides on how to take care of a hedgehog, or even a name for him :v: ?
Give it crack, dye it's fur blue, and tape boots on his feet.
Tape a couple of balloons on it and send it into space so it can be with its family once again.
It is so cute!
Feel how soft it is by rubbing it on your face. http://www.angelfire.com/wa2/comemeetmyfamily/CaringForYourHedgehog.html Make sure they're legal in your area. And if they aren't, don't let it escape.
Can you even properly domesticate a hedgehog? I'd release it into the wild somewhere soon if you know anywhere it'd be safe. Unless you want a hedgehog.
Daaaawwww so cute! Put a sponge next to it, see if she bangs it :v:
B'awww
inb4 have sex with it (User was banned for this post ("Meme Reply [rilez]" - Big Dumb American))
You should get a proper cage for it because I think aquariums hold too much heat or CO2 or something for mammals. I think.

I can't do much about buying a proper cage or giving it crack right now, as it's currently 11:10 PM where I live. He's prickly. :v:

OP, check this out:
Hedgehogs appear to be omnivores, eating both plants and animals; but are classified as insectivores. They are relatively new pets, so we are still learning more about them. However, at this time, we are still unsure of their exact nutritional requirements. Unfortunately, there is not much research being done in this area, as hedgehogs have not yet been deemed an important market by the larger pet food manufacturers. What is known? We know that hedgehogs need a diet which is fairly high in protein (30%+ has been recommended), and a diet low in fat (no more than 20%). A diet high in fat has been linked to the onset of fatty liver disease in hedgehogs. Most vets and owners will agree that a hedgehog's diet should include a variety of hedgehog and cat foods along with fresh fruits, vegetables and cooked meats. This helps to ensure that our hedgehogs are getting enough variety to meet the nutritional needs of our hedgehogs.

The staple of your hedgehog’s diet should be a quality commercial hedgehog food. It should contain at least 30 percent protein and no more than 15 percent fat. If you are unable to purchase hedgehog food, feed your pet a diet of quality dry cat food that is labeled as low fat. Avoid foods that show processed corn high on the list of ingredients. Feed your small pet only 4 tablespoons of hedgehog food or dry cat food per day. Any more than this may cause your hedgehog to become obese. If it starts becoming overweight on 4 tablespoons, cut the amount down to 3 tablespoons per day.

OP, check this out:
Well then, I don't have that much money so I'll go for the cheaper low-fat cat food. Thanks!
Give it crack, dye it's fur blue, and tape boots on his feet.
Fuck you, I was going to say that :frown:
Hedgehogs are fucking adorable. Too bad you can't have them as pets in California without a permit :saddowns:

Whatever you do, don't release it into the wild. Unless you live in Africa. Don't feed it with dog food, these things eat kitten food or proper hedgehog food if you manage to find some. They'll eat pretty much anything but kitten food keeps them healthy and slim. If you want a toy, give it a cardboard tube. They play for hours in them and never get bored. And get a wheel for it, these things run at least 2 km. every night. A chinchilla wheel will do the trick. By the way, you had some good hindsight by putting him in a tank. They're excellent climbers even though they have no depth perception. If it ever escapes, watch out they run extremely fast.
