• Do you think Senior citizens are treated equally or fairly?

Old people. They're everywhere. Infact, there's about 80 years worth of them lying around, so sure enough you're destined to bump into one sooner or later. Some people believe that we can learn a lot from their matured wisdom, while others believe they can only burn a lot with their matured stench. But whichever way you look at it, we all know they're still valid citizens. But are they treated like it? The way I see it, there are two sides to the coin. Whether the coin lands on heads or tails the majority of the time is what I want to call into debate. Heads; The senior citizen managed to earn enough money during their working lives to live off the rest of their retirement minted and in good health. Unsurprisingly, they are no less self sufficient than they were 20 years ago, and are capable of cooking their own meals without causing a seven street wide fire-spread. Tails; They get overlooked on the financial front due to their previous bottom-of-the-barrel salary. They are made to be completley devoid of independence due to their own offspring always biting their tongues, giving them nothing more than a "Told you so" and a pat on the back every time a slight mistake is made. Have a chat and decide which you think is more prominently seen in today's society. Good day!
No, they are not at all. Point and case conversation done. They spend all there life working for the social security when they are older only to figure out it is cut in half if you live to be past a certain age. Fuck all that bullshit.
Ha, haha, hahaha. no. Especially not in america, it's a bit better here in scandinavia but it could still be better.

I'm not understanding the question as it is never defined as to what would be considered fair and equal treatment. What is contained doesn't help at all to clarify, it really just makes me wonder what this discussion is supposed to be about. Is this about how people ought to act, like if you're on a public bus and there is a pregnant woman that comes on, you ought to give up your seat for her. Or is it about individual or collective obligation in rules should be forced upon individuals to do what they ought, and the collective as a whole is forced to support this group. Or is this just about public perception of the elderly? There a bit of all three in the OP, but then again I'm not really understanding the OP so I might be completely off.
I don't think they are. I think old people in America are screwed over in terms of social security, and I don't think they're accomodated enough. I feel as if the youth doesn't appreciate old people, and many younger and middle-aged people don't give senior citizens the time of day or find them a nuisance. It's not their fault that they're slow or maybe a bit delerious. I always think of them with sympathy and feel bad for how it must suck to constantly feel rushed by the younger generations. It reminds me of Shawshank Redemption, where they finally let Brooks out of the prison and he's overwhelmed by how fast the world around him is moving. I just think they deserve far more respect and credit than they're given by younger generations. These people are your grandparents, they might be a little bit slow and parochial about their ideas and opinions, but how would you act if you were 65+? Just pisses me off. /rant
We should take care of the old because one day we will be them and our kids will learn how to treat the old from us.

I think it would help if we made SS payments start later, maybe at age 70. People live a lot longer than when it was first made.
Well in terms of retirement in America fuck no they aren't. I guess in terms of respect and presitage yes I respect all elders, and help them in any way I can.
I've found the elderly to be cared for at treated as any other citizen in Denmark.
I guess it would depend on the entire family how their elderly are taken care of, in which nursing home or at your own home, etc.
