JoWood is a fucking cunt. After Gothic 2 (Which was glorious) they've done nothing but piss all over Piranha Bytes. Now they steal Piranha Bytes' biggest creation? Fuck you JoWood. I'm not buying your shitty games.
Yeah, I also hate how everyone assumes the entire Gothic series is shit when the first two are absolute masterpieces that rival even Morrowind. It's just 3 and 4 that suck levitating chupacabra dick. I just pretend they don't exist.
I bought Gothic 4, was ALRIGHT, still have to try out Gothic 1, 2, and 3 though. They're better I heard :D

All of their games have perfect compatibility with modern machines. Steam seems to have shit quality in that regard, and encrypts a bunch of files that some mods need to change in order to work. If I were you, I'd avoid Gothic 3. The gameplay is "Stunlock or be stunlocked." You can be a high level and lose to a level 1 creature if he stunlocks you (which is immensely easy mind you.) Worst game I've played in my life, worse than Big Rigs to me. At least that game made you laugh.
With the community patches gothic 3 was much better. Still not on par with 2 or 1, but a decent enough game.

It was probably an early version though since I last tried that years ago. If you guys are so inclined to try to stomach the vileness that is Gothic 3, don't do so without the patch. It DEFINITELY won't hurt.
Bought Gothic 3, got very confused. Time to get Gothic 2 and hope my experience is better.

The gameplay is fucking AMAZING though. That's why I love them, they're really complex and there's no level scaling bullshit like in Oblivion. If you don't know what you're doing, you're gonna get crushed. I also love how they did the "character classes" by fully integrating the paths in the story. Good luck.
