ALBANY — Lawmakers voted late Friday to legalize same-sex marriage, making New York the largest state where gay and lesbian couples can wed, and giving the national gay-rights movement new momentum from the state where it was born.
The same-sex marriage bill was approved on a 33 to 29 vote, as four Republican state senators joined 29 Democrats in voting for the bill. The Senate galleries were so packed with supporters and opponents that the fire marshals closed them off. And along the Great Western Staircase, outside the Senate chamber, about 100 demonstrators chanted and waved placards throughout the night — separated by a generation, a phalanx of state troopers and 10 feet of red marble.
you mad conservatives?

Remember Cloverfield

Fuck yeah, the local news stations were abuzz about this today; I think everyone knew it was going to pass though.
This is a great day.
-snip, I guess I'm racist-
Well, it ain't going to make where I live any worse. I got crackheads living across from me, mexicans to the right, and blacks to the left. They're out to get me.
I'm okay with this, it was an excellent movie. Also I can honestly see Glenn Beck literally exploding like the girl in the movie when he finds out about this.
Well, it ain't going to make where I live any worse. I got crackheads living across from me, mexicans to the right, and blacks to the left. They're out to get me. I'm fine with this whole thing, really.
wow you're pretty damn stupid
Edit
wow you're pretty damn stupid
I'm not bagging on gay rights, idiot.
33 to 29 is too close, it's disgusting to know that there are still 29 people in there who don't believe in freedom of choice.

Way fucking closer than people think, these four republicans are the reason why this bill passed, if it wasn't for them, Republicans would've won due to numbers.

Do you live in the 30's or something.

Sure they do, provided you're a white, straight, rich male.
33 to 29 is too close, it's disgusting to know that there are still 29 people in there who don't believe in freedom of choice.
Not to mention those people that elected them, since they're only representing the beliefs of the people that got them elected.
And it's not even a choice, gays aren't gay because they chose to be (unless you're trying to be an attention whore and act like you're gay). Being gay is something that you're born with, like the color of your hair or eyes, you can mask it over but it's still who you are.
That said, it's even more disgusting because it's not about freedom of choice, it's freedom of being who you were born as. In many ways it's very similar to racism.
I yelled "Yes" way too loud.
This is an absolutely amazing step forward. Hopefully with this added momentum, we can see gay rights being protected and enforced for me and our brethren in other states as well.

you're bagging on mexicans/blacks
Those 4 republicans are in for a fucking shit-storm, I hope they know there political career is basically going to be fucked up. I feel sorry that they voted for the right thing but in the end they might loose their career

Actually everyone was expecting a win only by one so I'm quite happy with that.

There should be more Republicans like them. Then our political landscape wouldn't be so fucked up.
It is time for my happy dance.:slick:
Now if only California would change its mind.
About time, not to mention it's New York. This will probably open the eyes for other states.
Great for them
