This was deployed over the air today to to all the US autopilot capable cars. Pretty cool stuff. They also added perpendicular parking (parking in a parking bay space) today as well.

pretty cool, but god damn that stock music got annoying after the 3rd loop
I hope tesla makes a car that can do my job for me
Can't wait for pictures of someone's garage being trashed because of this
I thought they meant that it'd drive to your location when you summoned it. This just pulls it out of the garage. Still cool, though.

Within two years Musk says they should have fully autonomous capability. No driver required at all. Well except by regulations for awhile. It sounds like they might intend to launch an alternative to Uber without any drivers when regulations say they can.

Only available on private property due to regulations. So even if it had the technical capability (it will soon hopefully) you wouldn't be allowed to use it in such a way.

That has existed for years, but not put into production for obvious reasons

Tesla seems to have become the best guys and gals in the automotive industry. Meanwhile BMW and Mercedes-Benz are still not introducing blinkers or a spedometer that marks under 80.

Didn't Audi end up using LIDAR for their version of it, making it financially unfeasible even on a luxury car? Tesla's autopilot system is cheap. We will probably see them rolling out a version with more cameras later this year that is capable of full autonomy hardware wise.

what
what
Yeah that confused me to. I have no idea what he means by that.
i hope it can do parallel parking at some point
what
I think it's an incredibly poorly done joke about BMW owners being bad drivers.
i hope it can do parallel parking at some point
It has been able to do that for several months already:

Pretty much every luxury car on the market has had this feature for years

This is true but some better than others:

Just can't stop being fascinated about Tesla. That the car is getting more power and more functions just by a damn over the air update like if you were updating a phone app or going from windows 8 to windows 10.
Or that they made all their patents publicly and replaced it with a meme.

Musk confirmed today that in ~2 years the Summon feature will be able to work from anywhere.

That is fucking INCREDIBLE.
That is fucking INCREDIBLE.
I expect while it will technically be capable it will be blocked from doing so by regulations for years after. It's going to take awhile for the laws to adapt to let a car drive itself with zero human supervision.

God I hope not. I need a Tesla car and a Batman themed keydongle once that becomes a thing.

Interesting claim. I wonder if the super charger stations are gaining those automated arms that plug in Teslas. It was an oddly specific example otherwise.

I would assume so. In the Tesla press release about it they said eventually the cars would charge themselves if they needed to when being summoned.
Elon Musk is bringing the sci-fi into reality. I love it.
They should put that Summon feature in a tank. That'd be pretty cool. And ridiculously scary.
Something about seeing a car drive itself is just so satisfying to watch.
I can't wait to see a confused officers face when he pulls over a Tesla and no one was in it :v:
I thought this meant that you could be somewhere in Siberia and could summon your car from France or something.

The latter portion of the video is so eeriely well smoothed that it looks like a firstperson cutscene from a videogame!

Might be possible by that time, won't be legal though
