When i was a kid i saw a scene of infantry with bagpipes marching against troops probably rebels defending a town or a farm. The question of why they would advance under fire, and pick up the banner when the carrier was shot, always facinated me (even though i understand why they did it now).
I still find this time period incredibly interesting and i've seen some movies about this period, but i've never really seen that movie i've seen when i was a kid, so i would like to hear from you guys what you think are good movies set in this period.
The only requirements are the following:
A battle scene
set in 18/ 19th century
But i appreciate any suggestion for a good movie about this period.
Movies i've already seen:
Barry Lyndon
Waterloo (1970)
Charge of the light brigade
Master and commander
Cold Mountain
War and peace (2007 & 1967 soon)
Watch the Sharpe series starring Sean Bean.
I've watched some of those on youtube. Pretty good indeed.
Oh well get out there and see Gettysburg and Gods and Generals and holy crap they are long movies with some great battle scenes, the latter is primarily about General 'Stonewall' Jackson (Played by Stephen Lang too).
Toss in Glory while you're at it, it has Morgan Freeman.
Zulu might be a good candidate too if it's not too 'modern' for what you're looking for.
Skip Gods & Generals, it was terrible.
