[t]http://i.ebayimg.com/t/George-Zimmerman-original-painting-/00/s/MTIwMFgxNjAw/z/HJ0AAOxydlFSsHdz/$_57.JPG[/t] Bids for an original oil painting by Trayvon Martin shooter George Zimmerman reached nearly $100,000 in a single day after the artwork was posted on auction site eBay on Monday. The 98th and leading bid stood at $99,966 as of Tuesday morning, with four more days to go in the auction. The painting depicts part of an American flag washed in blue, and includes the words "God," "one nation," and "with liberty and justice for all" printed in the flag stripes. An opening day eight-hour bidding frenzy on the painting came to a halt at 6:21 p.m. PST (9:21 EST) on Monday, according to the auction site. Orlando 24-hour news station Central Florida 13 reported that it confirmed the authenticity of painting through Zimmerman's brother Robert. Robert Zimmerman did not immediately respond to an inquiry by Reuters. A Florida jury acquitted Zimmerman in July of murdering 17-year-old Martin, a black Miami high school student, in a case that polarized the nation around issues of racial justice, self defense and gun control. In his eBay posting, Zimmerman described the 18-inch-by-24-inch auction item as "first hand painted artwork by me, George Zimmerman." Zimmerman added, "Everyone has been asking what I have been doing with myself. I found a creative, way to express myself, my emotions and the symbols that represent my experiences. My art work allows me to reflect, providing a therapeutic outlet and allows me to remain indoors :-) I hope you enjoy owning this piece as much as I enjoyed creating it. Your friend, George Zimmerman." That actually looks pretty cool. I'd buy it. [editline]17th December 2013[/editline] regardless of what people think of the artist.
lol good luck selling that for 100k (User was banned for this post ("Didn't read the first sentence of the article." - Swebonny)) (User was permabanned for this post ("Extended - alt of 'Nautsabes' and 'A Smaller God'" - Megafan))
I'd buy it for like 50$, looks nice. Probably just an attempt to make money, from what I hear he is in more than a bit of financial trouble.
lol good luck selling that for 100k

Bids for an original oil painting by Trayvon Martin shooter George Zimmerman reached nearly $100,000 in a single day after the artwork was posted on auction site eBay on Monday.
He already has.
lol good luck selling that for 100k
Read the article, he didn't ask for $100,000, that's what the leading bid on the auction is (well, technically $99,966, but close enough). [editline]news[/editline] It has also since gone up to $110K
lol good luck selling that for 100k
100K wasn't his original asking price, that's how high the bids went. The starting price was 99 cents. Well, i guess we were all in a hurry to prove that guy wrong.
He already has.
So was his original selling goal $100k or did he just happen to cash in at that number? [editline]17th December 2013[/editline]
100K wasn't his original asking price, that's how high the bids went. keep in mind it's not hard for people to artificially inflate prices on ebay, like when the PS3 sold out and people inflated a price for one bid of a PS3 up to something like over $1 million
Christian Science Monitor? Funny name for a news site.
I like the way he put one nation under god. clever design choice.
I like that it says 'justice for all'. even though the whole of the text is pretty standard given our pledge and all, I'd really be surprised if he didn't know he was making a giant faux pas that'd probably trigger a shitstorm.
why does it say "god, one nation with liberty and justice for all" it sounds like he's annoyed with it. "god, one nation with liberty? what were these ppl thinking???"
you're not sophisticated enough to understand the art
Happy to see he'll be making some needed money off of this.
why does it say "god, one nation with liberty and justice for all" it sounds like he's annoyed with it. "god, one nation with liberty? what were these ppl thinking???"
One Nation (under God). Geddit?
I really don't know why that case got as big as it did. It really shouldn't have. It wasn't a national tragedy. But that painting is pretty good, I'd never pay that sort of money on art though.
It looks like he pulled an image off google and filtered it
It looks like he pulled an image off google and filtered it
other way around images that have been filtered try to look like paintings
It's a decent piece. The only reason why it's selling for so much is because Zimmerman pained it. It's just the way art works.
One Nation (under God). Geddit?
it's a joke jeez [editline]18th December 2013[/editline]
you're not sophisticated enough to understand the art
i wish i was as sophisticated as a cop/neighborhood watch guy. maybe then i would be able to understand this flag and what liberty means to me. :(
it's a joke jeez i wish i was as sophisticated as a cop/neighborhood watch guy. maybe then i would be able to understand this flag and what liberty means to me. :(
Ironic thing is people who risked their life for freedom know more about the flag than you do.
why does it say "god, one nation with liberty and justice for all" it sounds like he's annoyed with it. "god, one nation with liberty? what were these ppl thinking???"
I literally spat out my milk laughing at this. This reminds me of a commercial I saw a few years back for a 9/11 coin. It had the words "God Bless America" on the back of it and I could not stop laughing because I was thinking of it being meant as a profanity.
you're not sophisticated enough to understand the art
*tips fedora*
Ironic thing is people who risked their life for freedom know more about the flag than you do.
zimmerman truly risked his life for freedom to bring us this flag i am ashamed to poke fun at it now
Ironic thing is people who risked their life for freedom know more about the flag than you do.
omg you're actually for real americans are so perfect i swear [editline]18th December 2013[/editline] i mean this entire thing is fucking hilarious
you're not sophisticated enough to understand the art
What's the relevancy of this? I personally wish he was no longer news-relevant, but this is a pretty condescending and mind-numbing argument.
you're not sophisticated enough to understand the art
Isn't this post supposed to be a joke? Why is everyone(some of you) taking it so seriously?
Isn't this post supposed to be a joke? Why is everyone(some of you) taking it so seriously?
Nathan Poe was a wise man
why does it say "god, one nation with liberty and justice for all" it sounds like he's annoyed with it. "god, one nation with liberty? what were these ppl thinking???"
One nation is under God, as the art is over your head.
