But there are few more controversial areas of science than the study of intelligence and, in reality, there's not even agreement among researchers about what this word means. Click here to go straight to the ultimate intelligence test. Unlike weight and height, which are unambiguous, there is no absolute measure of intelligence, just as there are no absolute measures of honesty or physical fitness. Nonetheless, over the decades, legions of scientists have devised tests that can show that one person is smarter than another just as surely as Olympic events can shed light on how much you can lift or how far you can jump. Now my team at the UK Medical Research Council's Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit in Cambridge has come up with the ultimate test of intelligence. Like many researchers before us, we began by looking for the smallest number of tests that could cover the broadest range of cognitive skills that are believed to contribute to intelligence, from memory to planning. But we went one step further. Thanks to recent work with brain scanners, we could make sure that the tests involved as much of the brain as possible – from the outer layers, responsible for higher thought, to deeper-lying structures such as the hippocampus, which is involved in memory. Here's a longer explanation of the theory and evidence that we used when devising the tests. The result is a set of tests that probe what might be called your 12 pillars of wisdom. In all, they take about half an hour to complete. Now we've teamed up with New Scientist and the Discovery Channel to give you the chance to take the test for yourself. Do take part! You can see how sturdy your pillars are. And you will help us to place the concept of intelligence on a firmer footing. I'll post results in a little while :D
I'm taking it...
Got better things to do
I'm taking it...
Oh crap some of the tests involve sounds and my office is a pretty loud and I can't focus well... maybe I'm taking it when I get home :/
ironically enough smart people don't base their entire intelligence level off a test
Got better things to do
What's the matter... you a chicken? [editline]2nd November 2010[/editline] Dum dummm
I completely failed the number memory test, gonna retake it when I'm not half-asleep
ironically enough smart people don't base their entire intelligence level off a test
They also realize their are many different forms of intelligences.
I already know whats waiting for me in this test so I'm smart enough to avoid taking it. answer: disapointment.
Id take it now, but I've got other things to do at the moment. Ill put it off until this afternoon.
Password?
Asked for e-mail and a password. I'm going to assume that's the test because only a moron would give away his contact information in this era without having to.
Completely failed Deductive Reasoning -18 points
Password?
Any e-mail and 1234 as a password will do
Asked for e-mail and a password. Jesus christ are you retarded
me too :(
I'm in a hurry to get ready for school, I'll take this when I get home.
the answer is [sp]5[/sp]
I didn't know what all words meant in verbal test. In that point i just said fuck it and didn't finish the test. Too bad i don't speak english as my first language.
My percentile for each test (in the top __ percent of the population): 1) 62.7% 2) 17.0% 3) 32.5% 4) 49.1% I had no idea what the hell was going on here and went purely on gut instinct. 5) 16.9% 6) 28.1% 7) 33.1% 8) 47.9% 9) 23.7% 10) 30.2% 11) 56.1% Those differences are so damn small... 12) 33.7%
Gonna tie the test when I get home. I will post results later
Dammit got half way through the test and the web browser crashed >_>
difficulty never decreases meaning you might as well do nothing and end up looking smart.
yeah and you will have low points, everything went worse than expected?
Dammit got half way through the test and the web browser crashed >_>
Sign in using the e-mail and password you've set up and you can resume the test
I scored above average on most of these things apart from the memory tests, I have an awful memory, having only memorised one phone number in my life
How many people have taken it though? That's what I want to know I scored top 11% on a couple of things, Mostly Top 25% though... Except for that Planning one... Top 68% I'm a Planning retard
I got an average of exactly 30%
These are basically all memory tests, it's hardly a test of intelligence.
74.6% blah
On test 11 I scored 95. Average is 47. In the top 3.6%, get in.
