So.. Steam is the bad guy now? I don't see why it's so bad. It doesn't transfer any personal data and you can turn it off (at least in L4D(2))
Lol Mordern Warfare 2
Surely they mean digital distributors? Online retailers could refer to any website selling the game, whether it be a physical or digital copy.
I can't see why they refuse to sell it  [editline]04:44PM[/editline] I mean the real reason x)
Haha Pretty much everyone on steam isn't going to buy MW2
Those 3 companies down the bottom of the article? never heard of them, oh well. Modern Warfare 2 is a waste of money seeing as most of the original content was cut, like the campaign being shortened.
Their loss of money i guess.
Trojan horse? What are they talking about? It doesn't hold information like PIN numbers or viruses. Steam Cloud is for game information like save games and achievements. I think these companies are just worried that MW2 won't sell that well on the PC anyway, and as Steam has extra features as well as the game they offer, they don't see it as worth selling.
That Trojan horse comment was just to get an intial "scare" reaction off oblivious computer users. It's not like they're not getting away with it anyway.
BAW YOUR INTEGRATING WITH OUR COMPETITORS SYSTEM, DAHT NOT FAIR GET OFF OUR INTERNETS. IW's response is pretty much going to be "fine, your loss". though this will make MW2 already dwindling PC sales even less.
brb, boycotting steam
Telling false truth, scaring potential customers with false truth = OBJECTION!:objection: LAW CASE!
Hope this bombs
Bullshit. This isn't about the customers, it's about them losing a huge title to steam. D2D also sells Dawn of War II and Empire Total War, both of which require steam.
What they mean by "Trojan Horse"? Seems like something i've missed?
D2D also sells Dawn of War II and Empire Total War, both of which require steam.
How does that work?!
How does that work?!
Get key>enter key to Steam>download game from Steam. Or Download from D2D>Install Steam if you didn't have it>Install game>play game from Steam.
who cares? not money people will be buying it for PC anyway.
I lol'd
They should have just said they disagreed with it's policy's and the treatment of PC users and then they would get love from every corner of the PC world.
makes it easier. I wish all games could be added to steam
Get key>enter key to Steam>download game from Steam. Or Download from D2D>Install Steam if you didn't have it>Install game>play game from Steam.
What would you be downloading? An ISO?
Looks like a good decision, long live Steam.
Another meaning of "trojan horse" could be that when downloading MW2 from those boycotting digital distributors, you are also forced to install steam. This reduces their future business, as once steam is on someone's hard drive, they are likely to use it for purchases since it also has a wide host of community features. Effectively, they're saying they won't sell something that helps their competition. Which, in a business sense is sane, but in a well informed consumer's eyes just looks like total idiocy on the part of the digital distributor.
What would you be downloading? An ISO?
Well, my experience with D2D is after you purchase a game, you can download it off their site. Atleast that's what I've done with the 5 buck deal and M&B + Battle stations Pacific
So by their rules, they should stop selling any game with the windows live gubbins, right? Because it comes with the game and cant be turned off?
Hah, they always talk about how valve is leading the market with steam, so fucking what. There's a reason people don't use shitty sites like the ones in that list, and that's partially because they do this shit.
Using digital distribution system to deliver a digital distribution system with the game really is kinda redundant Plus, once you do full Steam integration, you can't really sell it anywhere else, except retail.
