Bellevue, WA (PR Web) June 30, 2011 – Today Bungie launched the first phase of a new venture, Bungie Aerospace, created to help independent developers create brilliant mobile and social games. Bungie Aerospace will give studios the creative freedom and the resources they need, like access to the Bungie.net platform and an audience with the incredible Bungie community, to launch their entertainment experiences into orbit.
“Bungie has always been passionate about making and playing great games, regardless of platform,” said Pete Parsons, Bungie COO. “Bungie Aerospace will allow us to explore game creation in multiple formats with some amazingly talented teams. Now that we’ve returned to our roots as an independent studio, we are in a position to launch Bungie Aerospace to support, foster, and elevate like-minded, independent developers.”
Bungie Aerospace’s first official partnership is with Seattle-based developer Harebrained Schemes, helmed by Jordan Weisman, the creative mind behind Halo 2’s “I Love Bees” Alternate Reality Game, FASA Interactive, Wizkids, the MechWarrior and Shadowrun universes, and dozens of other creations and companies. The studio’s first mobile gaming title, "Crimson," is set to launch this summer on iOS and Android devices.
More details about Harebrained Schemes' first mobile title developed under the Bungie Aerospace banner will be available in the weeks to come.
About Harebrained Schemes
Harebrained Schemes is a small group of wildly talented people, crammed into a closet, making whatever cool thing inspires us next.
About Bungie
Bungie was originally founded in 1991 with two goals: to develop games that combine brilliant storytelling, beautiful art, and deep gameplay, and then to sell enough copies of those games to fund the studio’s real goal of world domination. For the last twenty years the studio created a series of genre-defining titles, including the Halo universe. Today, Bungie is fully focused on bringing the best gaming experiences to millions of gamers worldwide through the creation of their next big action universe.

nobody is talking about it so hi im the first
Looks interesting but kinda an odd move.
When I saw the headlines I thought this was going to be like Armadillo Aerospace aka idSoft in space, was dissapointed.
My first thought was Bungie is buying the rights to an airline company.
The lack of actual aircraft disappoints me. Still, it'll be interesting to see what comes of this.
created to help Bungie make money on independent developers creating crappy mobile and social games
God damn I was hoping for an actual Halo in space.
Watch as burried in the "fine" print of the ToS says they have the right to take it from you
Just like John Carmack (id software) and his Armadillo Aerospace.

I like it when people do things like this.
This is one of their steps to global domination, isn't it.

Because Bungie is known for that kind of treachery and dickishness, right? :downs:

Armadillo aerospace is a space program, bungie aerospace is a program for helping indie developers make games.
What the hell are you talking about.

How difficult is it to get across that Bungie IS NO LONGER MAKING ANY HALO RELATED GAMES.
Never count out the possibilitys, although bungie is cool in it's self it is still owned by micro$oft
no it isnt
also lol xD mirco$$$$$$oft lmao $
you are so funny
This is fantastic. It's basically what Bethesda does; continues on it's own development path while doing publishing and work with other developers, except whereas Bethesda does it as a business model, Bungie is doing this separately, meaning they don't own the rights to the game made or anything like that. This is going to do wonders for the mobile gaming community.
I still say that playing games on a phone is retarded, but I'm interested to see what comes out of this.
I can't wait for crush the castle clone #84392749237557457342758325689326
phones are for calling.
if you want to play games on the go, get a handheld.

Or perhaps just use a phone. What you do with it is your business.

They split with Microsoft last year. They now have a 10 year deal with Activision.

Before anybody tolls the bell of Infinity Ward, it's purely a publishing contract. Activision cannot interfere with development. It merely says that any IPs developed by Bungie for the next 10 years will be published by Activision.

Valve needs an amusemant park dude!
Team Fortress 2 will be a Hat Store and Nerf Tag
Portal will be an Obstacle Course
Day of Defeat will be a Target Range
Counter-Strike will be a mix of Obstacle Course and Laser Tag
Half Life will be a Maze
Alien Swarm will be a Horror House
Left 4 Dead will also be a Horror House
And then there would be the "Gabe's Buffet" resteraunt.
It would make billions

Too bad it will be delayed forever.
