• Does anyone find drawing properly proportioned and shaped women tough? Cause I do

I've really tried and I just can't seem to draw them that well. Keep in mind that I'm a highschooler, so I can't really take any advanced art lessons in college or something. I've started practicing nudes a lot in order to get a better mental imagining of their body proportions so I can draw from scratch without any sort of references. Here are a few poop examples of my attempts at drawing without references (for someone) Img tagged for size (and being non-pornographic noodz) I just can't seem to nail just right. What do I do from here. [editline]23rd November 2010[/editline] Also, for references, I obviously avoid Hentai crap actively since their concept of ta tas are inflated sandbags
I think you should make the head a tad bit bigger, I think it's partially messing with the proportions.
Forget the head on the first one, I think I need to add more than a stump of a neck
Whoops, sorry. I was talking about the second one, the head is slightly off. And, as you said, the neck on the first one should be larger than a stump. Great sketch, anyway.
First one looks like a gay guy, second- legs are too short. I think the arms are too short on the first as well, I usually make sure that my hands land roughly halfway down the thigh, helps a lot.

I did some pretty piss poor perspective correction with her legs as well. And I do have some misgivings about the first one. I made extra sure the sideboob was more visible, because that face...:v:
im sorry but the first one made me laugh really hard. but on topic, the second one is very nice.
im sorry but the first one made me laugh really hard. but on topic, the second one is very nice.
I realize that I REALLY should have improved her face before sending it out to my client
The first one looks like it has an arm attached to its back. I'd say most of the issue is in the hips although there are likely a lot more issues. Get really comfortable with drawing women from references. Do some study on the proportion. In any drawing book they usually tell you the main differences.
First image looks like she's doing the windmill, that or her arm got broken.
The first one made me lol
The first one was a clean up from a sketch, the disjointed feel of her left arm came from me erasing the wrong scribbles :v:
Hey now, just because you're in high school doesn't mean anything about how talented or skilled you can be. Advice to you is not to worry about being good enough to draw female proportions without reference right now or in the future, because every woman has different proportions, and drawings look better if they're made with attention to a specific form.

The first ones arm angling out to the left needs work, and the head needs to be a bit bigger.
neds biger bobs...
Try practicing from posemaniaca: the quick poses are pretty good to learn from. Otherwise you could try looking up tutorials. A lot of them suggest splitting up the human body into shapes and blocks before filling in the actual shape to concentrate on proportions. [editline]08:12AM[/editline] Oh and I find this tutorial is pretty useful.
