Really cool, but all of the jerky mouse movements really took away from it.

I'm not entirely sure this video is even really the Unlimited Detail Engine, as the whole point of said Engine was that it rendered in "atoms" instead of polygons, and some those rocks suffer from a bad case of polygonitis, as seen near the end of the video when he flies up and sits on a rock. Also, terribly low res textures. [editline]28th April 2013[/editline] This is the real/original/whatever from the things from 2011. this is unigine, not unlimited detail voxel/atom sensationalist shit. i.e. the level of detail is rendered via openGL/d3d11 tessellation

This interview was posted around a month ago. It hasn't even been that long since their last demo. How is one year "back in the day"?

They haven't announced anything, they haven't publicly shown off the tech, they haven't even updated their news section on their website in like two years. So yeah, I would say they've all but disappeared. Anyhow, again, that isn't the point. The point is, this video is clearly trying to play off of the hype of Euclideon's engine, I mean, look at the comments.

Oh man, that weather.

this is REALLY shoddy the engine looks nice, but they put almost no effort into making a decent showcase of it
Have you noticed that in the video they didn't say anything new only history of it and they showed a very old build of it.
They did show a couple of new things. They didn't show a complete demo like they have in the past, but that's just because they're working on developing some things first. They're obviously holding off on new demos because they want everything polished up before making another show. I think it's also worth noting here that they're a pretty small company, and they're trying to do a lot. Give them some time. At any rate, they're obviously still there. Everything that has been said about them here is objectively wrong.
nice lighting but really lo res textures
I wouldn't exaclty say this is unlimited detail at all I mean it looks good don't get me wrong but this doesn't look like anything that isn't already possible to be done easily with something like Cryengine. It's really just a bunch of grass sprites with trees and stuff on a landscape, something that's be easily possible since 2007
Makes me wish I knew the first thing about programming, the stuff I'd do with this...
So, the outerra engine generates the entire world and does it with less load than this benchmark does. Mind you it doesn't have as advanced of post processing, but still.
I tried the demo. I had to put it on the lowest settings because of framerate, but it looked pretty good even on the lowest settings.
"Extremely Unlimited".
