Tories and the DUP reach £1bn deal to prop up minority government
The Democratic Unionist party has agreed to support Theresa May’s minority government through a confidence and supply deal worth more than £1bn in extra funding to Northern Ireland over two years.
Under the terms of the deal, which will ensure the DUP’s support for a vote this week on the Conservatives’ Queen’s speech, the pension triple lock and winter fuel payments will stay in place. Both policies were under threat in the Conservative manifesto.
DUP and Downing Street sources said the deal was worth more than £1bn to Northern Ireland’s block grant – with more flexibility for the devolved government over an additional £500m already committed to the region.
The extra cash will be spent on hospitals, schools and roads in the region, the DUP said. Sources in London pointed to “physical and digital infrastructure”. They stress that the allocation of the extra money depends on who governs at Stormont. If parallel talks lead to power sharing being restored, then the DUP-Sinn Féin coalition could preside over the distribution of the extra money, they say.
The DUP will have no involvement in the UK government’s role in political talks in Northern Ireland.
The agreement, which comes to just three pages, sets out plans for the DUP to support May on the Queen’s speech and any confidence motions, as well as on budgets and tax and spending legislation.

Looks like they found that money tree after all.
There goes the NHS national budget. :hammered:
RIP NHS, it was a good run while it lasted
I guess they did manage to grow money on trees after all
The NHS has an annual budget of £90b (last time I checked). Compared with education at £40b, defence at £45b and pensions at £153b (I think I've got most of these right, let me know if I haven't). This won't kill the NHS (yet) but you can be certain where they dipped in to get the money. Right wing attempts to kill the NHS are slow and consistent.
Who needs democracy when you can just buy the seats you couldn't win via votes?

It seems so wrong to me. What stops political parties just offering MPs money for their constituency in return for their votes
Why the fuck aren't people more angry about this?
I wish people spent more time getting triggered about important shit like this instead of fucking identity politics.
We are FUCKED if we carry on letting this bitch get her way.
what fucking hope does theresa may have with the EU when a bunch of bible-bashing creationists extorted her out of £1bn AND forced her to drop even more of her manifesto pledges
the tories are finished as a party as far as i'm concerned. all labour have to do is let the tories be themselves until the next GE, by which point they'll somehow have managed to cock even more stuff up
Well...So much for peace in Ireland...
Bad Monday Agreement. RIP Ireland.
What a power hungry wretch May is. I didn't even loathe Cameron as much as I despite this reptilian bitch. Worst Prime Minister in British history.
I'm glad she just shat out a billion pounds from somewhere when we have an NHS in crisis. Corbyn and his magic money tree? What about yours?

Corbyn better keep Slamming the shit out of the Tories until the next election, drive the Tories popularity into the fucking gutter where this Reptilian bitch crawled out of.
Thats pretty much what Labour needs to do. Keep aggressively pushing out Tory influence and just slam the shit out of this DUP-Tory Coalition. Show the UK populace that the Tories are willing to Fuck everyone over and side with a bunch of Bible-Thumping Psychopaths.
If you wanted any more proof that May cares about nothing other than her own political career, here you go.

Because this is literally what people voted for.
Before the election the Conservatives said "If you don't vote for us, they'll be a coalition"
Therefore people who didn't vote for the Conservatives don't have a right to complain now that there is a coalition, since that's exactly what they were warned about.
Besides if the DUP aren't ever allowed any influence in the UK Government simply because they're from Northern Ireland, then what's the point of them even sending MPs to Westminster?

Eh fuck this Gatekeeper bullshit, people have the goddamn right to be mad.
I fucking hate this country

Wow, this has got to be one of the dumbest things I've ever seen you post. Not only is this wrong (the Tories specified a Lab/Lib/SNP/etc coalition, not just "a coalition"), but blaming non-Tory voters for causing this coalition absolutely absurd. Teresa May caused this coalition by calling a snap election and then running an abysmal election campaign. If the Tory party didn't want a coalition, then they shouldn't have called an election in the fucking first place.

Oh so this is the "Coalition of chaos!!" the Tories were bleating about?
Also I'm not entirely sure I follow your thinking here?
"People who didn't vote conservative have no right to complain about the actions of the conservatives because they are somehow more responsible for them being in power than people who did vote for them"
How the fuck did you work that one out?

Literally the most "Roll over and take it bitch" thing i've read in awhile.

Lmao. The Tories called this election with the intent of destroying Labour and getting the biggest majority possible, the fact that in the end, they had to tell people to vote for them to avoid getting hung is sad beyond belief and speaks volumes of their appeal and talent.
May went from the most popular PM in history to behind the most slandered opposition leader in living memory, in the span of 2 months. The Tories fucking suck and we shouldn't be expected to vote for them just to keep their majority.

There's also language in the agreement relating to when a border poll can be held and some stuff for the military in NI, which seems worrying. Anyone in NI with a better understanding of how much this affects able to explain it?
Fuck the DUP. They take the piss out of the Irish language and culture, are openly homophobic and pro life and they used to be proper hostile under Paisely. Thanks to May, peace in the north could be jeopardized.

Holy crap the mental gymnastics here is insane. Take a step back and look again.
Someone put this country out of its misery and pull the plug on this hag. That they need to whore themselves out to the DUP for votes they couldn't achieve is evidence that they ahould be taken down the river and told about the rabbits.
What happened to 'no deal is better than a bad deal'?
Scotland and Wales are pissed ofc, the tories are breaking all kinds of agreements with this deal lmao
I wish we had either Cameron back or a labour without horrible monetary policy so I could vote labour. This entire parliament has been nothing but shoddy compromises.
I think I'm gonna be sick. I was out of the news loop yesterday, I didn't even realise this had happened.

To be fair it's not like the peace has been jeopardised by the Real IRA in recent years.
But Fuck the DUP.
