I'm not from a big place and the only reason I know of 5-alarm is from that simpsons episode where Homer trips out on chillies.

That's pretty fucked up, Do you expect it to be city sweeping or can it be put under control?

Sounds like the building collapsed, with crews still working to contain the fire.
It did spread to a nearby building (UCSF property) that was contained.

Eventually they decide the building is a loss and work on protecting other things, letting the fire burn out enough to be put out.
Holy shit those photos.
Good thing it seems that the building wasn't occupied. Sucks for the residents across the street though.
