Oh my goodness. If loot in games looked like this, I would nerdgasm.
Fuck me that DOF + Raytracing looks good.
My eyes, it's too sexy.
Holy shit that looks completely real.
I can't tell the difference between this and real life photos.
We are starting to reach a singularity in terms of computer animation. Soon it's going to come to a point where even video evidence can't be used in court because it can be falsified using CG.
I don't know what the outcome of that will be...
Oh god games are going to be so sexy with this.
Eh it kind of hurts my eyes to look at it, because its blurry and my eyes are trying to focus but it doesn't work.
IT LOOKS REAL
would like to see performance results when applied to a larger scene
though it would be interesting if games started using raytracing to render small "close up" scenes, though tbh i don't know enough about raytracing to know if its possible to just switch back and forth like that
The dof always annoys me in these type of videos, I feel like it would look a lot less realistic if there wasn't any.
Why can't I ever run something this high detail that smoothly :(
The problem with that kind of DOF is that it blurs the surfaces, but not the final image. So the silhouette of the object is still perfectly linear, and isn't blurred at all (like it should be).
im always a bit surprised when that happens
it seems like itd be fairly simple to apply an edge blur to objects considering what an ugly artifact it produces without one

Isn't this being rendered on GPUs that aren't even on the market yet?
This makes me deep in jealousy seeing as I can barely even play tf2/ tribes smoothly :(

check thread title

That's running on an i7 and 5870, according to the title at least.

You can't run smoothly these games because both windows and code made for compatibility with the fuckloads of hardware available suck a lot of performance that the game could use.

..This was made by the guy who made iCEnhancer, Pretty sure he doesn't work anywhere at AMD.
my computer would literally catch on fire
the dof looks kinda shitty. I mean I like DOF but whatever they are using in this video isnt very good

what
what
Windows runs processes on background.
Games prioritize being compatible/stable rather than having high performance on specific hardware.
Because of that the performance he gets from games is not optimal. It makes sense in my head atleast.

such revolutionary ideas.. somebody contact nvidia/amd immediately, they need to know this

Pretty sure performance is fairly high on game developers' agendas..
Also, you know you can change the priority of processes in windows from the task manager right?

One day my friend, one day.
Is easy to be misunderstood when you try writing in a language not native to you, and it's pretty evident that i don't practice it much when you see my postcount.
I read the guy's post as saying that his hardware cannot run smoothly both these games, when even if i don't know exactly what kind of specs his computer have i'm pretty sure they can both run smooth and it's just a software problem, atleast with team fortress it is since source can run pretty smooth on almost every toaster you can find on your grandma's house.
Now, a revolutionary idea is actually implementing a voxel framebuffer and raytracing engines to graphics cards.
Enough derailing, related to the OP's vid while the raytracing looks pretty the bloom and dof look ugly.
I don't understand why people think DOF looks good, seriously It's not realistic at all, that's how it looks for me when I don't wear my glasses but you don't see me walking around without them going "OMG lifes all artistically good looking and shit"
Basically what they're showing is macro, and it looks pretty similar, though not as good, as real photos, and even our eyes.
Take a surface that stretches out, and focus on a specific spot with your eyes while being VERY close to this spot. It might not look as extreme, but it does look like this, and what the video shows:

The DOF in the video could use work, true.
I don't see it, maybe it's cause of my glasses? but it only looks like that without them on and its more annoying then good to look at so I don't understand the obsession of it in games
