Based in Los Angeles, Saker Aircraft’s S-1 is designed to be an affordable, efficient private aircraft, helping you beat rush hour traffic through near-sonic speeds while sporting a menacing military appearance.
Currently, Saker Aircraft is searching for the first round of investment for the S-1 project. If you’re not interested in ponying up the $5.3M the company is seeking for 15% stake in equity, you can still support their efforts by making an “advanced order”.
A civilian fighter jet? Sure you don't mean private jet?
Arguing semantics already? Didn't take long at all.
On topic, I want one. Basically the Ferrari of the skies. G5s and Learjets are the Bentleys and Rolls.
I can't see this idea taking off at all.

Specifically a military styled private jet.
Uh, it might be interesting if it could do an transatlantic or if it could go supersonic, but this seems sorts of pointless.
Eccentric millionaires can probably just buy a surplus MiG if they want to.
$5mil price tag is too steep
If I wanted a high mobility aircraft for fun I'dd go buy an Extra which is way cheaper or a surplus MiG which someone has already mentioned.

People tried to do something similar back in the 60's/70's with the BD-5J Microjet.

Strictly speaking, it worked fine. But as it turns out, trying to sell the equivalent of a multi-million dollar sports car to the average citizen does not fly.
'For civilians'
wealthy people are still civilians
Why not just buy an old disarmed MiG or SU?
I can't look at my country with a straight face when it looks like a dick with a ballsack

Personally I'd prefer an A-10 but I'll take one of these to

I've heard that there's someone in the US who owns a Su-27. Now that's what I'd like (or just a surplus F-4E or F-5E Tiger II).
Give me an A-10 or a SR-71. Either of those, and I'll fly it all day. (Actually a lot shorter, the fuel will run out quickly. (Shorter than that, because I have no idea how to fly and would either crash or pass out from intense g's and then crash. But it would be amazing before then.))

the A-10 would be no fun to fly and the SR-71 handles more like an airliner than a fighter
the A-10 would be no fun to fly and the SR-71 handles more like an airliner than a fighter
I don't care, I just love both aircraft. More so the A-10.

also disarming an A-10 would make it unstable - too much of the weight is in that autocannon.
also disarming an A-10 would make it unstable - too much of the weight is in that autocannon.
Plenty could be done to offset that in this hypothetical scenario. But as it stands it doesn't matter because I could never afford it and I'd probably get up in the air then crash in the middle of a suburb.

Bullshit
also disarming an A-10 would make it unstable - too much of the weight is in that autocannon.
Or, you know, just add some weight back in to it
Bullshit

i'd be jealous if all my friends had afterburners and I didn't
the A-10 would be no fun to fly and the SR-71 handles more like an airliner than a fighter
The SR-71 is a brick, it doesn't so much have lift as it has so much thrust it just stays in the air
i'd be jealous if all my friends had afterburners and I didn't
That doesn't impact on whether it would be fun or not
Personally I'd prefer an A-10 but I'll take one of these to
You mean the cannon with wings, yes?
also disarming an A-10 would make it unstable - too much of the weight is in that autocannon.
Then it's simple: don't disarm it. :v:
I'd rather buy a used MIG-21 for less than the cost of a large motor home.

Plenty of rich people with money to burn. I can see it working out fine.
My friend owns an L39ZA Albatros.
Yes I am jealous. No it doesn't have gat.
