This is absolutely crazy. I have known that this is possible for a while now with advanced machine learning and lots of resources, but now that anyone will be able to it, opens so many possibilities for doing very creative things (and making really good fake audio recordings)
This sounds chopped, I can tell from some of the wave forms and ive heard quite a few chops in my time
Some people are rating late, so here is another very interesting tech video with live video face transformation. These two technologies combined can create some pretty convincing stuff. (and this is just the publicly available/known about stuff, big corporations and governments are likely capable of much more)

So we finally have speech synthesizers based on sound files? Pretty rad

It's like a vocaloid that doesn't sound fucking terrible.
This will revolutionise garrys mod animations.
This would be amazing for fan content. Imagine, tf2 animations without god awful voice acting spliced in with game voices.

Holy crap, dude. Holy crap. The possibilities!

I want to see people put out voice banks for public domain use, or maybe even sell them. Then amateur game developers or modders or something that need a voice but don't have the resources for full professional recording can use it in their projects.

Dude, this means the voice of Mario will never die

imagine a future where people could 'copyright' their own voice.
Wow, this means a lot for speech synthesis. Before he died, Roger Ebert received a voice synthesiser that was painstakingly handcrafted to resemble him. With this, all they'd have to do is feed some high-quality audio footage of his voice, and make it in maybe a few hours (including research).
This is utterly astonishing.
I can't wait for all the fake news this will create.
Could this be the end of voice-actors?
that speech synthesis sounds very crude. what does this do that a DAW can't?

The future of Source Filmmaker pornography!
This is amazing and terrifying.
I wonder if there will be a way to tell if it's edited, that way if someone decides to Frame someone for stealing from them, they can now have actual audio evidence, it can avoid the framed person from being falsely arrested.

Says in the video they have it watermarked in some way. Honestly not that convinced it's a watermark that a bit of MP3 "magic" can't fix.

If anyone's interested

This is really ethically messy in my opinion. I guess it's better that it's Adobe than some other company beating them to it, if that hasn't happened already. Color me disturbed tbh

There is

Can you tell by the waveforms?
This is fucking great, especially for telephone prankster (Like IcenJam) and modding
Just imagine, you can create every sentence with your favorite char sound, you are not limited by the sound files anymore (although, its requires extensive editing)
But,it can be used for evil purpose (just imagine, you got a call from your friend to visit the specific location, only to find out its a criminal that waiting for you)
A double edged sword with many possibilities
Can you tell by the waveforms?
ask adobe
They announced it

you can do just about everything this does already by using other tools

What program can I use to replicate my own voice by just typing words?
that speech synthesis sounds very crude. what does this do that a DAW can't?
It seems to be part of Adobe Audition, which is sort of like a DAW already
Most of the convenience is more in how fast and simple the UI here is to use, looks like you don't need any skill in audio editing to do it
It seems ok. But it still sounds like waveform editing.
Black Mirror's 'Be Right Back' episode is turning into reality.
Oh god they had the same lady as last time hosting?
"WOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!" Slapping her hands together/
I'm glad Adobe is working on ways to make editing on this level detectable (this is discussed at the end of the first video). I can't imagine the repercussions of fake news.

How long until this is reverse engineered to strip any detection markings?
