(CNN) -- Exiled Russian oligarch Boris Berezovsky's death is "consistent with hanging" with no sign of a violent struggle, British investigators announced late Monday.
The 67-year-old Berezovsky was found dead at a country estate south of London over the weekend, triggering speculation about the fate of a onetime tycoon known for his opposition to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"The results of the post-mortem examination, carried out by a Home Office pathologist, have found the cause of death is consistent with hanging," Thames Valley police reported. "The pathologist has found nothing to indicate a violent struggle."
Investigators are still waiting for toxicology test results, which could take several weeks, the statement said. And the house in Ascot will remain under guard while investigators continue to probe his death, police added.
When someone who spoke out against Russia's regime gets murdered by a tiny amount of ultra radioactive matter, you bet a hanging can be faked.

Depressed, almost 70 years old, in deep financial trouble and publicly says quote "my life has no meaning" before suicide. Must've been murdered!

Our government had it coming after that polonium stunt. Now pretty much anything will be suspicious.

Nice try KGB. You were too obvious.
why is it always assumed that someone who criticizes russia and dies must've been assassinated
why do you think russia is actually daft enough to send assassins after every single person who is publicly against the putin administration? after a short period of time the killings will not only grab the attention of police investigators but russia will instantly become the main suspect. if you actually figure putin's administration isn't one step ahead of this kind of situation you've got another thing coming. a country that fought a global espionage war with a superpower 25 years ago must've learned a thing or two about this exact kind of stuff.
They don't send assassins...
...They send Putin himself!
The ironic about this is that Berezovsky was one of the men who helped Putin to power.

Facepunch loves conspiracy. Some US politician blows her own brains out in another thread and they assume she must've been assassinated.
Good riddance, the guy was a dick and a huge thief.

Clearly KGB mixed depressants into his food and every night, Putin went to kneel next to his bed and whispered "Nobody likes you, go kill yourself." into his ear, over and over and over.
snap

I mentally have the picture that Russian intelligence strategy is "do first think later", but that's probably due to having seen too many American action movies

It's actually "drink vodka first, think later, do whenever"
