Movies with a more underground feel, so not rocky but more like fight club or never back down sort of thing. And no karate kid type stuff.. any suggestions??
The Raid: Redemption
The Bourne movies take the cake on hand-to-hand.
The Five Deadly Venoms
The Raid: Redemption
This this this. Best flat out martial arts movie I've seen in a long long time.
Movies with a more underground feel, so not rocky but more like fight club or never back down sort of thing. And no karate kid type stuff.. any suggestions??
i dont think you can really call fight club "a fighting movie"
Ip man
Ip man
This. Also if you want something that is just pure action, that doesn't care how stupid the plot is as long as it has really really fun fight scenes, check out "The Protector" They take full advantage of their "not giving a fuck about plot, lets just have fun"ness a lot. Early on, there's a fight scene involving rollerbladers, dirt bikers, and a 4 wheeler. And their shot in 1 take tower climb fight is amazingly well done.
i dont think you can really call fight club "a fighting movie"
I meant that more as a suggestion as to the types of fight scenes.
Ong Bak

rush hour fuck yeah
Chocolate
tournament films, I think that's what your after, Bloodsport and KickBoxer are good examples.
Are there good movies about fighting, but not with Asian constant jumping, but more with clear punching and kicking? The Raid: Redemption had good portion of this.
Rise of a foot soldier is pretty good, although it's not a fighting movie.
Kill bill vol 1 and 2
Bruce Lee movies and Ip Man
That Raid: redemption looks great. I'll check it out! EDIT: I checked it out and it was good. Although I had a little trouble distinguishing the characters because filipino. It's a tad more violent than the usual martial arts movie, there is a lot of guns and machetes and knifes involved. But it's not to miss. I'd suggest it to everyone who likes fighting movies.
Story of Ricky.
Story of Ricky.
Oh god I remember it! It's a comedy disguised as a fighting movie :v:
So I don't know if you've ever watched an old 1992 movie by the name of Universal Soldier, but there was a remake recently that went by the subtitle of "Day of Reckoning". I put it on the other night just to have some action schlock to pass out to, but I ended up staying up all night watching it because it actually turned out to be incredibly badass, sporting some of the best (and most realistic feeling) fight scenes I've seen in a movie for awhile. [sp](minus the super soldier elements, but I thought even that was handled well)[/sp]
street fighter the movie isn't that great but i enjoyed the fight scenes also as listed above, bruce lee movies because bruce lee motherfucker and The Protector, it has this really long one-take
District 13 and the sequel.
I checked it out and it was good. Although I had a little trouble distinguishing the characters because filipino.
Pro tip: The Philippines and Indonesia are not the same place. At all. Indonesians are not "filipino" by any stretch of the imagination.
