Sometimes I like to put on a WW2 outfit and shoot blanks at people. Sometimes I even record it.

Unfortunately I can't seem to remove the 'Fix shakiness?' thing that youtube does on that first one.

My god, this looks like it'd be really fun to do.

It is. It's also hilariously expensive but once you get into it it's good fun.
How expensive is hilariously expensive?

Also what happened at 1:13?
That's bloody awesome.
Nice work.
Man I am jealous as fuck, I always wanted to do WW2 re-enactment.

Basic starting kit if you want to be a kraut is (not sure what it is for americans) around $800nzd, a little bit less for americans.
Not to mention weapons & ammo
How much does a blank firing M1 usually cost, I'd assume it's high.

Or did you just adapt one?
[editline]29th August 2012[/editline]
I hope you didn't adapt one.
This is like my dream, I just have no idea where these sort of things happen.
How do you determine of you were shot or not?
How do you determine of you were shot or not?
Just like when you played guns as a kid "I GOT YOU" "NUH UH"
Nice videos! Although the sound seems to be a bit... well, very distorted. Regardless, I also have been working on using helmet cams to film some of the reenactments I go to.
Sadly, I could not film at the D-Day reenactment a couple weekends ago, but I did film some others.
Here are some of mine...from the other side's perspective. ;)
My camera, sadly. Like to make my sounds lower than normal. It does not do the sound levels any justice as to what is going on...
First two have some RO2 music added in. The other is a short clip.

How can you tell when you're being hit? Is it like airsoft? Also the video with the panzerfaust and the stuart, I'm not sure what's going on. Is the PZfaust shooting something?
This is awesome... I'd love to do it. I even have a Mauser from WWII my dad bought me for my birthday years back. It's a blast to shoot. Even more fun to shoot at other people!

Haha. It's a regular M1 with a hollywood BFA on the end of it. It can be taken on and off without tools.
Getting them from the states to NZ after all the shipping fees and tax and all that jazz costs roughly $2400usd. I'm sure it'd be a hell of a lot cheaper stateside.

Haha yep, for the public shows at least. Or if you run out of ammo and get an unclearable jam (which happens quite often) you'll run forward then have a heart attack. When we do our own thing ie go onto a farmers property and play wargames for 24 hours we have umpires for things like long range combat and sniper shot, but in close-medium range you can tell pretty well when its time to die.

May I ask how you hide the cam? Or do you not at all? This is how I did mine when I tried making a helmet cam video

Very inconspicuous as you can see, but I am looking for a better way to do it.

i'm assuming you guys have the permission of whoever owns the property, right?
cuz right now i'm just imagining some backwoods fella walking out of his farmhouse and seeing a huge WWII battle raging and he's just like "MARGE, YOU'D BETTER COME OUT HERE"

I do it with the California Historical group and we get invited to do it every year at Camp Roberts, an old WW2 training base, but it's not really what you are thinking, most of the time it's just someone who has a ton of spare land and lets us use it while they're living elsewhere.
I wish I could join in shit like this.

We know a guy who knows a guy who gets paid in beer and ammo to let us tear up his paddocks.
