What's with the ad around the video player? It makes my eyes bleed
So he never got past the tutorial levels and complains about the trivial stuff that's been in there since the first version. Reminds me of that comic where the gamespot reviewer dies from tigrex and gives the game a 4.
Wow, I normally like his videos, but it's obvious that he didn't understand the game at all.
He didn't even try multiplayer, but he was spot on about some of the aspects (WII :argh:).
Okay, I get that he always has a go at the game, but having a go when he's only played the tutorial is a bit... silly, even for Yahtzee.
He even said the area loading is because of the Wii's hardware, even though it's a part of the game and it's been in every MH release.
He didn't even try multiplayer, but he was spot on about some of the aspects (WII :argh:).
What's the problem? The game is perfectly fine on the Wii, and it's arguably the best in the series. The Wii didn't hinder the game at all.

If it had been on 360 or PS3 or PC, they could have gone for a nice, fully realised free-roaming experience on the scale of something like Just Cause 2's island.

Areas have always been an important part to all the Monster Hunter games. It's a key part to the gameplay. And you act like it would be impossible to have a big open world in a Wii game, even though there have been plenty on the system.
He didn't even try multiplayer, but he was spot on about some of the aspects (WII :argh:).
He's said before that he doesn't play multiplayer for reviews, as the game should be able to survive on it's own core feature (but it's Yahtzee, so it never does)

They didn't change that because it's part of the gameplay.
I think he's triing too hard with those puns.
Normally I find his reviews to have very good points, but with this one, it seems he just went "Oh, a JRPG (Which the game isn't). IT SUCKS IT SUCKS IT SUCKS." He didn't even get past the tutorial stages. That's just fucking lazy.
He's definitely right about it not belonging on the Wii (I like the Wii but this game would be much better on the PS3 and/or PC).
This man is the best.
I responded to the Ad, it asks a lot of questions as to "Why you aren't playing Everquest 2?" I responded with a stern letter as to why I prefer Planetside and did not approve of their advertising Campaign. His negative review actually persuaded me to take a look at the game, being suddenly ambushed by a massive sea monster seems like it could be interesting.
Wow, Yahtzee was in a bad fuckin' mood this week.
I kinda agreed the whole time....
Wow, Yahtzee was in a bad fuckin' mood this week.
Which makes it all the better.
He did the same thing with Demon's Souls. Grant it, he bashed it because it was "too hard", but he hardly even got past the tutorial stage in that game as well. I know he doesn't have much time to review, but if he wants to review a game correctly he can't just rush it.
Wow, if you read the comments on that site, everybody is pretty much praising the video and calling the game shit because of what Yahtzee said. Fucking idiots. [editline]04:06PM[/editline] ie:
beema Copy Clerk Posts: 72 Joined: 19 Aug 2009 oh dear god, this sounds like the worst game ever. halfway through this review I had no idea what you were talking about anymore it was so tedious.
[editline]04:07PM[/editline] I liked this post though:
I have decided on an easy way to explain to people who don't know Monster Hunter just how atrocious this "review" is. I'm going to explain other popular games in the same manner. Halo is a game which takes place entirely within the confines of a small laboratory. You are immobile inside a measuring device and a scientist tells you to look in different directions. I am told there are lots of guns and aliens to fight but clearly that was just bad advertising. Psychonauts is a game about a boy who was part of a circus and then went to summer camp. There were no interesting levels and I never got to use any sort of psychic powers. There were only three or four characters and none of them were interesting. The only enemy creature in World of Warcraft is wolves. You do nothing but grind wolves until you get so fed up with it that you stop playing. There is only one faction, the horde is not playable.
You'll all find it pretty surprising when I say that MOST game reviewers/critics just don't have the time to finish a game. Yahtzee is no different.
You'll all find it pretty surprising when I say that MOST game reviewers/critics just don't have the time to finish a game. Yahtzee is no different.
He didn't even fucking play through all the tutorial missions.
I've said it before and I'll say it again now: Yahtzee isn't a reviewer, he's a comedian. Stop having expectations.
The background surrounding the video pisses me off.
I've said it before and I'll say it again now: Yahtzee isn't a reviewer, he's a comedian. Stop having expectations.
We know, but he's too quick to shit on games. None of his points were valid; he just ripped into the game despite not even playing through the mandatory tutorial missions. He basically didn't even play the game. And what annoys me is that so many people take his word for it, and will bash the game based on his video. Just look at the comments.

You don't need to go on a fuckin crusade, hes meant to be funny. So what if he has fanboys that take his word for it, why do you really care?? Yes, he doesn't like jrpgs, get used to it.
