Could be a great opportunity to see some incredible meteors, the rate can go as high as 100 per hour if it's dark enough. Get your asses to some countryside and check it out! Here's a video from NASA with a bit more info on the 2012 shower.
Cloudy cloudy clouds for me tonight, but sunday night seems perfect ill try to get a timelapse
I live in the middle of a big city. No chance I'll see any of them, I'm afraid.
and it's cloudy as hell in the UK, same as last year, same as ever. bollocks :l
I saw a huge shooting star last night. It started off as a small streak, but then it turned into a huge ball of fire. It was fucking awesome.
i think tonight around midnight its supposed to clear up. hopefully i can go chill at the mountains
clearn nightsky tonight @ me. might as well have a watch
I'm so glad in that video they added (NOT TO SCALE). I thought the planets suddenly became moon sized!!! On topic, I fear living in the suburbs may hinder my view, but hell I am going to try anyway. It's going to be partly cloudy but not full on clouds.
Well now it's raining like fuck
Ah, I've seen about five so far
Damn you all. It's so cloudy here.
its a bit cloudy, but I can't see anything in the clear parts. What direction should I face? North, south?
hopefully it clears up in the next couple hours
I saw some pretty kickass ones, they even left a trail that glowed for several seconds!
Sat outside for a whole hour last night hoping the sky would clear up (which it did for 15 minutes or so, and I saw a couple of shooting stars). Then it decided to piss down.
Can you see them in like, the whole world, or is it just one place?
Can you see them in like, the whole world, or is it just one place?
High chance if you can see the Perseus Constellation. Its called the Persied shower because for some reason most of the meteor starts from it. Not directly from the constellation but if you trace the line it travels it will lead you to the constellation.
Will I be able to see it tonight in Scotland? Or has it finished.
You can still see it. But there wont be as much meteors as on the peak days.
Wow, this night was awesome, I was with my friend, laying on the balcony of his house, for about 3 hours, we saw about 15 meteors, 5 really bright ones, it was awesome. [editline]12th August 2012[/editline] The sky was completely bright, like, NO clouds at all.
This was the clearest night i've seen at my house yet with my telescope. I saw a couple of nice meteors but only one was caught on my camera.(This is due to me looking in the wrong direction for an hour) you can see andromeda galaxy in the first one if you look for it
So glad I spent my summer in the mountains, I've never seen the stars so clearly before. Sat out listening to this till 3am watching them.
